The demos done by Avalon Hill's Chris Nadeau and Patrick O'Rourke (with the guidance from Craig Van Ness) on youtube utilized 3d printed (it looks like) figures that were painted in single colors to resemble the plastic minis they originally planned to put out for the Haslab campaign.
Another small difference I see between the Haslab version and the released version is that the included d20 die was white with black numbers, while the retail version is the opposite (black with white numbers). It's just a standard die so one could easily find an alternate from any FLGS if they wished it to match.

I'm not quite sure what some of the little plastic chits are in the Haslab pictures. Those may or may not have their equivalents in the released versions, but I suppose those could be anything, even cut up pieces of paper. Any HeroScapers who know whether those are important, feel free to comment!

PS: There is a companion app for HeroScape... sort of. Actually there are many bits of free software for HS, but they are all fan made and unofficial, check them out
here (HeroScapers, a really awesome fan site, by the way!)
