Armband of Ice

Postby The Admiral » May 6th, 2015, 4:10 am

This artifact cannot be found in this quest pack. There are four artifact cards, apart from the six scrolls, and these are found in quests 4, 5 and 7. I would therefore suggest that the Armband be found in quest 6, and the obvious location is the empty chest in the little ice vault room.

Good catch. The Armband of Ice also isn't mentioned under 8. New Artifact Cards on p.8 of the introductory pages, though it is one of the 30 game cards mentioned under Contents of p.1. This is just another case pointing to the lack of playtesting for this product. :smack:

I guess Zargon (or Morcar) can add this as an artifact to some tomb or Treasure Chest along the way... possibly the Tomb Room in Solo Quest 3 The Rescue, or the unmarked chest in Quest 9 guarded by the gargoyle and a couple greenskins.

Although it is highly reasonable that the heroes find this in the unmarked chest, quest 9 comes so late in the game and would most likely be found on the final stretch where it would have very little use and no subsequent quest thereafter uses the cold spells or climate.
Adding this to the solo quest would be a nice incentive for either Barbarian, as this is the Barbarian quest pack, and it's not until Quest 7 they get the Amulet of the North. Much like in the Elf Quest pack the elf receives a Set of Magical Elven Bracers erroneously called a set of elven chainmail in the Elf Quest booklet, it's a card that won't be found unless Zargon/Morcar makes alterations.

it can probably be a mistake caused by the forced fast release, but consider that in the Game-System there are some Chaos Spells that are unused and are intended to be used in the next expansions, Kellar's Keep and Witch Lord.
So maybe they could have in mind a second frozen scenario pack where you could use those artifacts, who knows? But the theory of the mistake seems more plausible :D

I propose the empty chest in Quest 2. :)

That could work too, but I think it's good for the hero to experience the harsh conditions before finding out what they're immune to. That's just my take.

Do you not see... That must be the intention of the card. It's never meant to be found by a Hero in game. Only generations later after many failed play throughs. Your friends dusting off an old box at the back of your garage...

"Wait, what, what's this card... You mean after all this time!!!"

As the evil genius chuckles inside of you for that last one time.

If this is to be the case, It's best they never find it and any owners of that card must immediately destroy it. It's the only way to protect your power and the dominance you gained. It must be destroyed!!!

I believe it's an error that it wasn't included, but I guess it's conceivable that it's just something for you to use in your own quests after you are done playing the campaign.
Kinda like the quests in Wizards of Morcar were basically just a vehicle to introduce a bunch of new toys to the heroes.

The Arm Band is (logically) a stronger version of the Ring of Warmth. I think finding it in the Solo Quests is a great idea, both to eliminate an "empty" chest and to provide an incentive to reward survival of these very difficult "intro" quests to the BQP. Great ideas, guys.
