My new spell cards for my new game

Postby Maike05 » May 5th, 2011, 6:33 pm

Hi everyone, I'm making a new game system just for fun for myself, but i'll share with you guys, too.
I've already finished the spellscroll for the wizard, here are some picture of my card's look. Don't be surprized by the look, it's NOT heroquest... ;)

That being said, I'd like to have a critical point of view regarding the layout. So as you can see on the picture, there is on the top the scroll's title, then an illustration, followed by a short description and how to use it.

Nice, I like the images, ...but was it your intention to make them look like Yu-gi-Oh cards?

Lol no it wasn't my intention. I thought violet could represent magic cards. Then I just wanted 4 things on my cards : a title, image, description and mind points cost. So if I ended up to something looking yugioh, wasn't intentionally planned ;)

Man, how did you get the images to fit so good front to back? They never seem to fit right when I print them out. Did you print the front and back seperately and then glue them together?

Anyhow, very nice work! ;)

Hello, thx for comment ;) I used a 3x3 table on openoffice and centerered everything. I printed recto/verso.

The other possibility is to directly set 9 cards as one image and center it horizontally and vertically in your document.

Hope it helps ;)

It hepls, I will try it!

But unfortunately I dont have my own printer. I have to go to my university, and if I want nice backsides I have to use a colour printer...which makes printing out many cards somewhat expensive. I have to settle for grayscale backgrounds for now, which make me very jealous of you for having so nice ones :D
