Standards may be different between countries. We here in Canada are apparently the world's highest Internet users by a great amount. So our compies might cycle through upgrades faster. What else are we gonna do between hockey and hunting seasons, eh?

technology moves just as fast in the US. I just don't move through technology as fast as technology moves. Why spend $1000 on a computer system that will be obsolete in less than 1 year. I decided that my AMD 2.2 Ghz with 512 MB of RAM, 128 MB video and 60 GB HD, 52x CD-Rom, 52x52x24 CD-RW needed to be updated.

So, I bought a Dell Laptop. 2.0 Ghz Intel Centrino Duo, 2 GB ram, 512 MB stand-alone video, 17" screen, 100 GB HD, 16x DVD+/-RW. The only problem with it... Windows VISTA!

It sucks. Oh well...

I'm pretty much in a similar boat. I've had the same compy for near nine years.

P4 1.5GHz 423 socket, 768 RD-Ram, 128MB graphics card, 24x10x40 CD-RW, DVD-RW (16x I think), 21" CRT Flat Monitor.

Windows XP Forever!

She still feels fast for most things, but there are a few programs I now use regularly that just takes all she's got! (Photoshop for example)
