The storybook and screenplay was written by the artificial intelligence that normally is responsible for correcting our texts when writing on a smartphone.
They fed it with science fiction stories, then they gave it some random input sequences, and then they pushed the button and produced the outcome as a shortfilm.

It is just so crazy and so meaningless waste of time that I really enjoyed watching it! So if you have ten minutes, don't miss it.

"I don't want to be honest with you." This is actually the most honest sentence i ever heard!
Poor actors who were put on the task to actually put some life into this nonsense.

Okay so first, that was really cool. Both as an experiment and also as art.

Next, these kinds of experiments illustrate two things in my opinion, 1) How little things will accelerate the impending singularity and, 2) That once it happens, we will have a very long way to go before A.I. understands what we are about and who we are in relation to the rest of the universe... Face it folks, Strong A.I. probably wont' "Get us" and definitely won't think we're special.

For the Singularity, i am working on it.
No honest i think there are some showstoppers for a full scale Vinge Singularity.
Even if the triplet Russia Amerika China is currently working on the self deciding wave 3 weapon and on an overarching strategy for using them.

Of course the movie itself only has any merit because of how it was created.
If it was just itself without any explanation it would suck no matter how well the lines were presented.

I think the singularity is inevitable. We may(?) be developing slowly, but every single baby step is none the less a step.
Actually, aren't we speeding up development? Every new tool allows the creation of new tools.
On a historic scale development has certainly increased in speed.

For sure, Goblin King! Since i was coming to the forum, i got a full overview over Heroquest, over other dungeon crawlers, and all the things to develop my own version. Not only that, i can use print services to make all the gaming material and Thantos' 3d service (or others) for additional miniatures - so i am definitely enabled to do a game like this in half a year, in professional quality, for a price of maybe three or four base game boxes.

If i weren't dilly-dallying every second weekend two or three hours, but instead full-out, i could do that whole thing in four months, including deep dive understanding of the game mechanics and the calculation Mohawk and i were pushing each other into . With Kickstarter, i could even develop and sell it professionally in less than a year.

10 years ago, 2006, i would have had half the possibilities, definitely no miniature modelling for the price of today, professional printing for 4 times the price.
20 years ago, 1996, i could have had all the skills and the entire concept in my head, i would not have been able to develop it (because no community contact), i would not have been able to execute it (because there just were no professional printers available for hobby prices).
And even if i would have had the drive and will to do it professionally instead private as hobby, i doubt that i would have had any fitting connections to the needed money or the ability (technically) to present my stuff.

So yes my possibilities have developed in 20 years far beyond my expectations, ten-folding my personal abilities and making me 20 times faster than in the nineties.
Nevertheless... who should buy all that automatic made stuff in 10 years, if no-one has a job anymore? So i think there are some serious stoppers.

One of the worst will be the self driving car.
It will come. And quick. The first incarnations are on the road, in 2 years there shall be a retrofit box for trucks, and in 3 or 4 years there shall be self driving cars everywhere. Drones will do the job of the postman, first experiments already running. No more truck drivers. No more taxi drivers, no more UPS or DPD or Post or whatever.
Entire populations of people suddenly without job, in less than a decade. Worse, these are people who will not take an engineering job instead.

Tell me that won't stop dead the already weak economy and i believe more in the singularity than today.

We're a long way from real AI. Consciousness is not something that can emerge from code and it isn't generated by our brains, there's no evidence for that it it makes no sense. Our brains are what links our consciousness to our bodies. Until we work out how that's done we'll never be able to create something with its own will, only something that follows it's directives precisely. Even if we could work out how to do it, it wouldn't actually be artificial consciousness. It would be regular consciousness coming through an artificial receiver. The pineal grand is the central point of the brain where everything connects back to, that's what we need to be looking at. It's also the part of our brain that creates altered states of consciousness when it's stimulated by meditation or tryptamine chemicals (especially dimethyltryptamine) and it's being turned off (calcified) by the crap we're, fed like fluoride in the water if you're in the US.

Whereas, the US functions sufficiently good in the sense that the rich really take their responsibility and do something within some funds for the poor. That may not be enough, but it is something. Elsewhere, nothing happens at all.
