Additional Body for Monsters?

Postby Darklord » June 17th, 2011, 11:47 am

Hey Guys,

So I've got the Euro HQ, my players found the Trial to be a reasonable challenge but now they've bought equipment and such and I'm wondering If I should use the US Body stats for my monsters for any further games, or will that make the game to difficult?

Cheers,

Daniel.

Try a quest using them and see how your players like the challenge.

I have been phasing in the US Body Point system slowly over the inital qust book. Having the odd few Chaos Warriors with 3BP, Mummies with 2BP, a Gargoyle with 4BP etc. Something in each quest would have a increased BP count, whether it was the boss, or the above! 1BP just sucks really!! I will be cranking up the pressure gradually over Keller's Keep, and ROTWL, to the point where they will match up with US BP by the first few quests of ROTWL. That seems the best way for my group.
We play with 5-6 Heroes sometimes, so it was out of nescesity , that i would make harder monsters from the get go!

Having started with the UK, 1BP rule, and moving on to the US multiple body points, my opinion is that there is so much more fun to be had for both the heroes and Morcar/Zargon if you use the US system.
Nothing worse than having a huge gargoyle fall in a single attack.

Sounds like you're doing the right thing for your group. How are you tracking Body Points? The N. A. rules say to place a skull marker under the figure. Have you tried it, or do you have another method?

I used the markers for a few weeks, but didnt really like them. If there are only a few monsters, I keep track on a piece of paper. If I have lots of monsters with the same body points, eg chaos warriors, I have a row of boxes on a piece of paper. Every third box counts as a kill. As the Chaos warriors take damage I cross off a box. Every third box ends in that monster being killed, even if he hasn't been injured before. Not perfect, but easier to follow.

I have never liked putting counters under the minis, as it just gets a bit tedious, so i just keep track on paper. plus there is enough of us that play each time that we pretty much keep track of which painted mini has what BP left. The group doesn't tend to try cheat...much! If i catch them trying to pull a fast one, i just add an extra tough monster in the next room!! Keeps everyone on their toes!

Cheaters lose their saloon priveleges in Beernut's games.
