Heroquest Magazine

Postby Darklord » June 16th, 2011, 7:10 am

Hey Guys,

I've just been rooting through my old Heroquest collection from many years ago, with the intention of Ebaying it all. (Marriage is expensive!) And as well as the more common stuff, I've come across the Heroquest Magazine, I was just wondering if this was particularly rare as I can't find it on the net anywhere?

Basically it has quests, a painting guide and such in it and extra room tiles which you had to cut out of the cover.

Anyone know anything about this? :)

Cheers,

Daniel.

Is it the HeroQuest Marvel Winter Special?

By the way, if among your collection there's the Agains the Ogre Horde jigsaw puzzle (or the Adventure Design Kit one) I'm already here to buy it |_P

Aha yes that's the one! Although the cover has all been cut up to make the floorplans etc. Is the magazine particularly rare?

No jigsaws sadly, just the main game, Kellers Keep, Witch Lord, Ogre Horde, Wizards of Morcar and Adventure design kit. Oh and the sticker book. :)

I'm actually lucky enough to have 3 base sets and 2 of each UK expansion, I actually rescued the 2nd set just before it was skipped! (that's right, a mate was moving in with his girlfriend, who didn't want his games cluttering the place up and they would have binned them all if I wasn't interested)

Funnily enough after looking through all the sets it really makes me want to play again! I think I may sell one lot and keep the others. ;)

Cheers,

Daniel.

I've seen the magazine fetch upwards of $80 USD in complete uncut condition. I've seen them with the tiles cut out, but complete go for $45 USD. I've also seen just the cover uncut without the rest of the magazine pages go for $40 USD. You'll definitely get a good penny for it.

If you have the boxes for the Ogre Horde and Wizards of Morcar expansions, I'd be interested in them, but in all honesty, you'd likely get more money on eBay than I'd be willing to part with. I'm really only looking for the boxes as I have the rest of the contents, but spares are always nice to have. ;)

Well I was meant to be playing D&D 4th edition last night, but some of the players couldn't make it, instead of cancelling I instead took round Heroquest and my fiancee and gave the Trial a go. With 4 players and me, (Morcar) we had an absolute blast! What a fun game! I'd honestly forgotten how good it is. :-) I will definitely keep one set now. ;)

Incidentally one set has the Maze as the first quest the other has the Trial as the first quest, is this a known variant? I have to say looking at the Maze it doesn't look nearly as action packed.

I actually do have the boxes for both Ogre Horde and Wizards of Morcar, they're are folded up in excellent condition. I think I will try to sell the expansions whole however.

Cheers,

Daniel.
