I had to share this, friends. Two of my heroes, Gizzard the Wizard and Lady Darwin the Dwarf, have been together irl for some time now, and Gizzard has decided to pop the question! And he wants this old Zargon to work it into an upcoming quest!

I wish he had given me more time for this; I would have loved to design a two-hero quest to run them through that leads to this end. But unfortunately, he told me today and he wants to do it ASAP, so I'll probably just work it into one of our upcoming regular quests.

We're about to begin the Return of the Witch Lord, and should have played the first quest by the time he gets the ring. In Quest 2 - The Cold Halls, the treasure chest marked C could be a good place for it, but with the nature of the revolving room, there's no guarantee that the Dwarf will be the one to find that chest...
Quest 3 - The Silent Passages has two chests (marked B and C) so as long as we get Lady Darwin to open at least one of them, that should work well.

No matter what you do, i would suggest (if the ring is in a treasure chest) to describe the chest as a finely crafted chest of dwarven origin. Only the dwarf will be able to open the chest, because the lock will be too difficult for non-dwarfs. That way in case there are only two players or a whole party, only the dwarf will be able to find it. Hopefully this helps.

Goblin-King, Stratos, you guys are right. I'll see if I can talk him into letting me whip up something special. I think he's at a point now where he's just all excited and nervous and wants to get it over with.

Sir Rick, you are on point, man! I was thinking put it in a trapped treasure chest (none of the other heroes ever purchased a tool kit...), but that still leaves an opportunity for another hero to open it and just take the damage from the trap. Your suggestion kills that possibility!

You need to get your hands on a Dark World treasure chest, they're designed to open and a ring would fit inside.

Or make a custom quest treasure card. Tape the ring to the back.
Make a chest and make sure the wizard opens it.
Hand him the card (without showing the side with the ring).
He decides the dwarf should have the treasure.
She reads the romantic sap on the card.
She feels the weight and turns the card around.
Tears and kisses commence.
Open the door, get on the floor, everybody walk the dinosaur.

OH!!! How romantic!!!

I will share with you some of my favored Romance Spells and Magic Items.

The Lovers Kiss. (Spell School Lovers Magic?)
This spell is placed in a love letter or missive from one lover to another. After writing the letter the sorcerer enchants the seal with a kiss from their lips.
When the letter is opened by the intended recipient they will have a minor illusion of their lover appear to their eyes, the lover will embrace them and kiss them tenderly. As the illusion fades gently away the the only thing left is a slight tingle on the lips and a lingering, yet faint trace of the senders scent.

The Mystic Proposal
When this spell is invoked the proposer must get on a knee and open the lock box that holds the ring. When the ring is taken out of the box and presented the lights in the area all focus on the lovers, the sounds of romantic music fill the air and lite smoke billows around the two lovers in gentle wafting traces. Illusions of hearts and flowers will the air and those who are prone to crying at touching scenes will immediately choke up. The spell lasts fleetingly as soon as the denial or acceptance is indicated.

The Passion of the Wild (Elf Wedding Spell)
When cast on a pair of willing participants by an Elvin Priestess of (Insert Elf Diety) the pair will become filled with wild abandon that will run a course of 3 days of intense rutting and lovemaking.
If the pair are genetically viable to produce offspring then they certainly will produce a child.

The Lovers Wedding Bands
This ancient set of rings may only be worn by true lovers with pure hearts for each other. Otherwise the enchantments they share will surely set the pair against each other. These two rings once placed on the finger may not be removed until death and the wearers will be able to know the thoughts of the other ring wearer and communicate at will. For a pair of battle sworn lovers, this ring set would serve well...provided they can maintain love and not develop animosity.

Lesser Lovers Wedding Bands
This simple rings will alert the wearer if the wearer of the other ring is in danger or has passed away.

Recently at our game table when Lord Silverwing, Warden of the Forests proposed to Sasha, Queen of the Sky Clans, he sent her a gift a Unicorn and a baby Goatasus. (A winged Goat. The little dude is adorable, but is a pest and the stable master sorely wants to clip the buggers wings, but the queen will not hear of it.

(Sasha is player character, and it is a TT RPG but some elements transfer.)

Yes, a special quest must be written for this. And the environment must be very special...ornate detailed room
and treasure chest...give great descriptions. Build it up. Make it wonderful.

I can help with some descrip writing and a nice poem, if you want.
