My rule-book does not list "pass over heroes" on that list. It also says that they cannot move onto an occupied square, but they can move through one.

drathe has quoted correctly from the NA Instruction Booklet. You appear to be referencing the British rule book, which would explain the confusion. From p.8 of that rules set:

When moving, characters and monsters may not:

    *move diagonally;
*move onto an occupied square. Characters and monsters may, however,
pass through an occuppied square, provided that the player controlling
the obstructing miniature allows you to pass; otherwise you must take
another route or stop. Only one miniature can occupy a square.

My hero assassin may move through one occupied space per turn.
All kinds of swarms, obviously.
Minotaur (Rage attack, storming over one hero (who has to roll to see if he loses a BP when overrun), attacking the next).
Snotlings.
Flying monsters (NOT the gargoyle!).
Other ideas?

I revisited the Push Back thread using move through rules.

Yes, I do not believe monsters can pass through squares occupied by heroes. Sorry!

We don't allow anyone to pass through anyone else. Basically if the heroes are in a single corridor they have to stay behind the character in front of them.

I don't generally think they should be able to pass through an occupied space of a non-friendly (this goes for Heroes and monsters).

Does anyone use just a standard movement rate (rather than dice roll) for heroes? I sometimes got tired of having my players roll. It became tedious when one player is playing more than one hero. Thoughts?

I think it adds to the fun/excitement when you need to make a certain roll in order to get somewhere to do something vital.

We tried to use something like Elf d6+5, Barbarian & Wizard d6+4, Dwarf d6+3.
The result after two quests was "What The Admiral said". The whole group agreed on fraggle Realism.

The problem with D6 + something, is that the heroes will always move at least something+1. Which, at the slowest (for a dwarf usually) is 3+1 = 4 squares. But 4 squares is plenty movement when it comes to combat in a tight room. You always have to give the players the chance to roll that double 1s that screws up their enitre tactics for the turn.

Exactly. There's a strategic reason why the lowest monster movement is 4 (can theoretically catch up with a hero) and the highest is 10 (hero can theoretically escape).
The luck factor written into the game through this mechanic can not be overvalued.
