A couple of the HeroQuest novels have an additional RPG/Choose-your-own-adventure style game after the main story.

I've actually been trying to work something like that out. I am having trouble
working the rules in such a way that a person could easily take one
character and "choose their own adventure" with the combat and spell
casting and all that.

I've never gotten my hands on a fight fantasy book, so I don't know how they handle it.
In my mind...it all seems very difficult to work out in a manner that would be simple enough
for a choose your own adventure book.
