My vision of an armored Barbarian includes pieces of gladitorial armor. Many figs sport this look. I call it "piece armor" in my house rules armory.

I've been considering modding one of my Barbarians like this. Maybe a helmet, shoulder pad and a greenstuff chainmail sleeve?

I have no modding experience yet so this won't happen for a long time.

He's quite a bit bigger than the advertised 25mm heroic scale for this Reaper line. I was disappointed and I wasn't going to use him at all but my son insisted I paint him so he could use him. With the lower profile base he actually looks great next to my other three custom heroes. At scale he's probably pushing 7 feet tall and he's stacked (his mid section is huge)… That still fits with the whole fantasy hero thing, so why not?

Yep, that's it--a cool choice. Bigger is better with the Barbarian, so if your son likes it go for it. You can always get an alternate at correct scale. The main thing he looks cool as a muscle-bound, mobile fighter.

The helmet goes without saying in HQ if you want to represent. Conan pictures sometimes have them, so I'd mod it that way. The pad and sleeve combo sounds perfect. I expect he'll look great if you undertake this.
