I agree with many of your points. It seems rather pointless to use an assassin as just a DPS hero when that's the job of the barbarian. He/she needs to fill a specific role where they are better at it than anyone else. The treasure search ability seems to do this nicely I think. I do like the whole 'sneak attack' idea though. It really fits the character in my opinion. I wonder if combining the treasure search ability with the opening attack ability would work. That way the thief's main advantage would be searching but could occasionally sneak attack for some extra oomph in combat. He would still be weaker than the barbarian or dwarf which he should be. I haven't had a chance to try these new variations yet. I'm hoping to tomorrow evening with my son.

Did a quick search and came up with several assassin heroes that others had come up with. Found one in particular, by Tott, that is similar to Teldurn's version:

Body Points :redheart: :redheart: :redheart: :redheart: :redheart:
Mind Points :redorb: :redorb: :redorb: :redorb: :redorb:
Move :roll3: :roll4:
Attack Dice :skull: :skull:
Defense Dice :whiteshield: :whiteshield:
Starting Weapon: Short Sword
Starting Armor: None
Restrictions: Plate Armor, Shield, 2 handed weapons

SPECIAL ABILITY: (Critical Strike) In combat the assassin may reroll a :skull: and add any additional :skull: to his total.
Example: Assassin rolls his 2 dice and both land on a :skull: . He then rerolls both dice and gets a :skull: and :whiteshield: . He rerolls the one dice and gets a :whiteshield: . His total would be 3 :skull: .

So he could have a total of 3 attack dice. So this ability could be potentially very deadly. Might be a bit much though. Not sure. I think, all in all, I still like the treasure searching ability while leaving the badassery to the barbarian and dwarf.

If you want to try another one assassin, check this one. He is so simple..

ASSASSIN
Body: :redheart: :redheart: :redheart: :redheart: :redheart: :redheart: :redheart:
Mind: :blueorb: :blueorb: :blueorb:
Attack: :skull:
Defense: :whiteshield: :whiteshield: (may not use shield, plate armour)
Movement: :roll6: :roll6: (minimum result= :roll2: :roll2: )
Equipment: 1 dagger (it's the ONLY weapon you may use)
Skill: If you inflict damage, you instantly kill your enemy (no effect on special monsters)

Very cool Sotiris! I like it! So his movement can never be lower than 4? Would anyone be willing to make a custom card for me by chance?

Yes, his minimum movement roll is 4.
I found a nice assassin image in google, i'll paste it on a card to make you one. But the character's information is yours, i'm not good on this :)
Tell me what to write and i'll upload it immediately!

Thank you! Yea I'm not really that good at that sort of thing either. Maybe I can borrow some ideas from another assassin hero card here on the website.

Okay how about something like this:

You are an assassin. A hero who prefers to operate from the shadows. During your training you've learned how to exploit weak areas in your opponent so you can deal a quick and lethal strike. Your weapon of choice is the dagger. As long as you cause at least 1 damage you will kill any enemy outright. Speed and stealth are your trademarks therefore you are unable to use any other weapons other than the dagger and you can not wear plate armor or use a shield. You must use this knowledge to your advantage if you hope to survive.

How's this? I'm welcome to suggestions. I'm terrible at this. Thanks again.

The skill/restrictions part needs to be more clarified, so any player who reads the text can understand easily how this hero works.

It's clearer, i like it! |_P
Tomorrow i'll paste it on the card and modify/cut some extra words or phrases if it's too big.
