The company is far too private for me to even consider backing again, i need to know they are a company that is 100% open with their customers. The post Sjeng pointed out about the finer details of that company immediately should have everyone saying.. goodbye. I didn't like how hard it is to see the actual company and the people behind it. Who are they, why dont they ever post pictures of themselves and current work in development. Its definitely not as open as the companies that did Zombicide and MYTH. Ive sent a message saying will they post pictures of the group and their area of expertise in the various departments in the game. No answer yet. Dont think i will get an answer to this question. That interview in post earlier was eerie, very unprofessional. Anyways.. offskies. Need sleep! :D

I just don't see the logic in calling MD thieves. They own the name HeroQuest. They owned it before MB made their board-game. MD never said they wanted to make a board-game anything like HQ, but even if they did, everyone already has. There are board-games based off all the major PnP games, and complicated board-games are the thing these days. GZ is trying to simply shangai the property to make a quick buck. There is zero indication that MD wants to capitalize on our HQ. MD is in the absolute right on this.

I just recently heard about this about a week ago, and when I did, I nearly crapped my pants. Then after spending at least 2 shifts at work reading about the failure that it has turned out to be all I can say is how sad I am. If they would have done this right I would have considered giving them my firstborn (not really), but now I just want to shake them violently and shout "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!!!" at them.

Maybe someone can do the 30th anniversary right, but I highly doubt that. We are just going to have to wait until Greed Workshop does a limited reprint of Warhammer Quest (Think Space Hulk 3rd edition) and be happy with that, aren't we?

They did? Wow, I wonder how MB/GW managed to make the game then :P I always assumed MD made their game later.

Actually, I'm wrong. I was thinking that the old Glorantha game was also called HeroQuest--it was actually called RuneQuest. My claim still stands, however. There's nothing to indicate that MD is trying to capitalize on the good name of HeroQuest. Glorantha PnP went from RuneQuest to Hero Wars to HeroQuest. That's a logical naming convention.

Actually the fact that they used ''Heroquest'' is exhibit A of their intentions on capitalizing on a known brand name. Heroquest holds a cult status and they know it, I bet many people that chose to give a shot to their game, did it after stumbling upon it searching for HQ on the net. Also they stated that they intend for some time now to create a board game called Heroquest but with different content from the original. When you are trully creative, that is something that you just dont do. You dont want people comfusing your product or even mistakenly compare it with a pre-existing one with the exact same name. So thats why I say that legally they are right but morally they are as wrong as GZ.

But let us not be comfused with legalisms here. As fans and consumers we shouldnt be troubled about copyrights, especially when the original creators are long gone out of the picture and what we have left are, suits and managment sharks.
What should trouble us in a new HQ game:
1 Good quality materials that would stand at least at the same level as the originals
2 Longevity via many expansions
3 Thriving fan communities and interaction with the editing company

Those 3 reasons should be enough for anyone to NOT support the GZ fiesta. Not because they are stealing an IP, we shouldnt give a rat's ass about that, but because they will be shut down eventually via lawsuits and leave the fans out in the cold. Even worse the Satan of board game industry aka Hasbro will wake up eventually and shut down all the sites that provide scans of the original game. Frankly Im amazed that they were slept for so much time.

Your is pure supposition. You say they wanted to take advantage of a decades-old board-game, I say the name was a combination of the names of their last two games. I say I'm right, and you're chaffed.
