Absolutely! Even while I DM games I still get an inner twinge of guilt about the disdain my own father showed to almost all games...especially the "nerd-type" ones which he would sneer about.
It's difficult to drop that baggage.

I am so glad to find a community that surprisingly has people my age in it! So congrats to ALL of us! We know what's fun, and our kids will love us all the more for it!

My children are 6,9, and 12. All three play in a family game of Basic D&D (80s rules where elf is a class). We have played Battlemasters, Heroquest, Heroscape, Battleball, Battletech, Munchkin, and D&D in all forms up to 2nd edition. My older son and 6 year old daughter play a lot of Ultima Online mmo on free servers and we have a library of over 50 pen and paper rpgs.

My 12 year old son joins our weekly 2nd AD&D game played with my wife and 4 of our friends.

Basic D&D--I miss those rules. You have successfully surrounded yourself with a live-in gaming group, and you have another group besides. I have to go back to college to remember that kind of gaming access--well done.

I hope to build a 3d stackable dungeon where we will remove each level as the players finish it till we reach the bottom. When I begin construction I will post pictures of progress and eventually the game play as well.

Games we have but haven't tried yet include Lionheart, Dragonstrike, and many rpgs waiting on the shelf for their chance to take the spotlight.

And KK most 8 year olds are "way more cooler" than an old school 41 year old gamer, but I make for an awesome dad
