Postby Jackyboy » November 24th, 2013, 8:24 am

Greetings,

May I say how happy I am to have found this forum :D

I remember Heroquest well from my youth, infact I remember the day I broke my arm at school (smashed it to pieces may I add! haha) and was rushed to hospital. I stayed in over night and when I got home the following day it was my brother's birthday. We had seen the Heroquest advert hundreds of times and my brother really wanted it. He was at school when I got home and I can still remember vividly going up into his room and seeing Heroquest laying in the middle of the floor. I opened the box and just moved pieces around the board with no idea of how the game was played. I feel in love with the game there and then and still have found memories of playing it with my brother and his friends. I was always the Wizard, though I wanted to be the Elf

Although most of the other board games which I soo wish I still had, Heroquest managed to survive almost all in one piece and about a decade ago I remember playing through it with some friends once again. I got myself another set so there was plenty of monsters and furniture to start making my own quests, but I never got round to it.

I had Advanced Heroquest as a child, but a NEVER once played it though as my brother wasn't interested and none of my friends were into that style of board game. Also the AHQ rulebook blew my mind as a young child

Soo now its 2013 and I have once again pulled Heroquest out of the cupboard and have been really enjoying running the main campaign for my girlfriend and 3 friends. We've all enjoyed it so much that I have been buying up more Heroquest goodies (a new copy of AHQ as my copy vanished :() and downloading like crazy. After the main campaign we plan on moving onto Advanced Heroquest, although I feel a few little homebrew quests may be in order first :)

This forum seems pretty active so I look forward to reading what lovely questing tales await and I'm always up for trying new house rules etc

Thanks Ye Olde Inn for your hospitality

Isn't it funny how the first or second paragraph of everyone's introduction post is always basically the same? Proof of kinship, if nothing else.

Thank you all for your warm welcome :)

I have indeed found many ersources online for making my own quests, which I will in time I am sure of it! When I do I will post them here for people to play through. Speaking of which, I have just read the Chronicles of Sir Ragnar thread and have became incredibly excited about it. I have downloaded the Volume II : Dealing with Death pack - It looks so professional! :D I have a friend who owns a printers and I am compiling a USB stick full of things for him to print me off

I WISH i could paint to the level which I feel my figures deserve, but alas I have never been one for painting. Infact it is probably this reason alone that I am not more into warhammer and the like. As a kid it used to suck taking my figures down to GamesWorkshop unpainted to play with :( I do however have a friend who is an amazing artist. He has worked for GamesWorkshop for decades now and has on many occasions had his painted figures shown in White Dwarlf magazine. He is called Darren Maccinch, I wonder if anyone knows his work? Anyways he is in the process of painting all my 3RD edition Talisman figures. I will post photos of them soon :) I will have to get him to do my Heroquest figures afterwards

Well thanks again for the warm welcome guys, I will be getting involved with the community for sure! As for now I best get on with my University Essays that need to be in very soon! (yes I'm a student, but a mature one ;) - Im 30 by the way) BUT once these bloody time consuming things are out the way then i'll have more time for the finer things in life ;)

Thanks, I put a lot of effort into that |_P
I'm still updating it when I find errors, so if you find any please let me know. And if you ever play through it I would really like to know how you get on and which route your Heroes take through the story.
