i think the main problem im seeing is that we are all purists to the core. this is a game many hold very dear to them as the gateway game that got them into this sort of thing. so it holds a strong special bond for many people.
and now someone is coming along and 'remaking' it. everyone has fears that they are going to get hold of this special gem and turn it into something they dont like.
when in truth it is all still purely conjecture at the moment. for all we know they may get it and make it better than we ever wanted it to be. we just do not know at this point.
as for heroquest being dead.......you have to remember heroquest was the first game ever of its type that was advertised to the masses. and was classed as a semi success on that level. its broader appeal and advertising was very much a pinnacle for fantasy games to be advertised on normal daytime tv to people like us at the time that had no idea what it was. but thought it was so cool we just had to have it.
this new one will not get that exposure, so most definitely will not be aiming to be the gateway game the original was. instead it is aiming at those like us that are still around and wanting more after all these years. so is heroquest dead.........
https://www.change.org/petitions/bring- ... -to-market
with 1,655 supporters..........not a great amount really is it considering it is worldwide. with every single person im guessing that filled that petition out being one of the people that played the game over 20 years ago.
as far as market data goes. id say those numbers are a gamble to invest so much into a game of heroquests magnitude these days.
my hopes of this being amazing?? well lets just say i hope im proved wrong on my earlier comments. however this is never going to have the same impact as first time around. which is sad. because i would like people to experience this as we did first time round. and sadly that isnt going to happen

They are a Spanish company that can only legally sell the game from Spain. They are translating it into English and other languages that are not as important (I'm looking at you, Finnish). There isn't anyone else in the world they could have been aiming at for this but us. Who else is going to give a crap over whether its named HeroQuest or Orc Apartheid? Not only are they trying to appeal to fans of the game to support a crowdfunding campaign, but they then expect every on every continent to import the sumbitch from Portugal's over-sized hat. You know what sold HeroQuest when we were kids? The TV commercial. Even if it turns out to be the best damn game ever, you have to question to pragmatism of a company that chooses to limit the scope of their release to a single country so they can try and win some kind of nostalgic medal-of-honor. That action alone surely has to make you think what kind of minds are at work on this. They could have called the game Heroes' Quest, called it a retro-clone that was inspired by HeroQuest, and been the champions of BoardGameGeek, and have been uncompromisingly able to distribute the game. They had to go that extra length and call it the 25th Anniversary. You know how you celebrate a marriage anniversary? Firstly, you don't introduce your wife to your younger girlfriend while pointing out what you'd change about her. Heroquest should only be brought back to make it accessible to a new generation of kids. If I can ever get that sculptor to finish those damn female hero concepts I'd get out there and KS that myself.

Think of it this way. Even if it isnt what we want it to be, it might still end up on the Compatible HQ Additions page, haha.
Sure it's pretty scary when the witch lord returns but what you should really be afraid of is "Resurrection of the Witch Lord". Resurrected baddies always come back more threatening than ever, usually kind of demonic with wings and horns and hell fire to announce their arrival. Think Gannondorf or Mother Brain from Super Metroid.

Sure, it translates to few other languages. But, the problem is as chaoticprime pointed out, they can only sell it legally to Spain. We'll see what happens ;)

I hope that you like and enjoy it

@knightkrawler:

Official communicate

Gamezone’s direct sale online to worldwide's custormers: granted (both KS and beyond).
Store distribution outside Spain: licensing still pending (could concern retailers, not customers).
Risk from GW: same as from IKEA to build resin furniture for the game.

The artwork reminds me of World of Warcraft. I will not comment this any further.

Well, that's exactly what I thought even way back when we were shown the backs of some cards.
Sadly this is the look EVERYTHING has these days... And I think it's fair to blame WoW actually...

Blame Bruce Timm, Alan Burnett and Paul Dini--the creators of Batman the Animated Series. But in blaming them for their meme, you must remember that they made cartoons actually good for many, many years. Too bad they just got fired. Anyhow, yeah, that whole anatomical style certainly evolved most strongly from DC animated shows.
