I read Teldurn's post like that. I got it all wrong, and then I posted the right thing.

A fine feat of marketing, in theory.

But nothing. No thing. Jesus.

ive bought a load of *lemony goodness* over the years. ive gotta say this is starting to peak my interest. i like the character designs very much.
if i hadnt of done so much already i would of probably bought this for the miniatures and scenery stuff alone.
as it stands...its gonna have to be a bloody good game to wrench 90 quid out of my pocket.
but it is swaying my interest slightly in its favour compared to a few weeks back.

Id agree the art so far looks awesome! i saw a full length version of the barbarian and it was much better than the traditional conan looking barbarians, a fwe pieces of armour and a kilt instead of a nappy makes him look much better.
I'm keeping an eye on this and waiting to see what happens, if they take a leaf out of the Myth kickstarter and offer a ton of free stuff for their stretch goals, if the quality is there in models and translations, and if it looks like they are going to put a quality HeroQuest product
then it could be a decent, modern HeroQuest. don't know about you but under those conditions, i will be very tempted! :p

That's just it. Modern HeroQuest isn't HeroQuest. Its some other game using HeroQuest's title. If I want to play a more sophisticated version of a like-game, I'll play something else. That's sort of how it works. Hell, Dragonstrike is basically just that. Only you have to hurry. Anyhow, the game that Gamezone wants to make is not HeroQuest--most everything they have mentioned is how different theirs will be. They talk little of similarities. Why can't they just make the game they want to make, and leave HeroQuest alone? They're not making their game better by calling it "HeroQuest," they're making HeroQuest worse. Does anyone else here like the idea of the common view of HeroQuest being that new concept art? Is that our dwarf? The last thing HQ needs is a "gritty" reboot. Next thing you know and they'll have gothic faery-tale *lemony goodness* everywhere.

You know what would both preserve the image of our game, and also alleviate everyone of the temptation of spending money on this thing? Not backing the KS en masse. No game, no problem. Let them go remake Lionheart or Key to the Kingdom.

They only use the name HeroQuest cause they know that not only we are going to be interested, but we'll also advertise this game for them.
Anyone wants to buy it, fine by me (I'm not buying it), but none of us should advertise it for them which is pretty much what we've been doing for a while now.
I move to have this topic removed from the record. Let them make their own account and inform us about the upcoming kickstarter and date of release and all of the needed info.

why? that makes no sense? this is a heroquest forum, a company is planning on re-releasing heroquest? and were annoyed about what? how dare THEY do it? HQ is ours? they will want to charge us for it? their english is crap? what?

im not saying this project will be brilliant, im not saying it will be garbage, but WHY is being instantly dismissed? wait until there's some solid evidence about this before its judged.

Personally I don't care if we are advertising this by talking on the forums. It's not like anyone is loosing any money because of this.
If people decide to buy it, I guess they did so because they thought it looked good. Nobody is forcing anyone. And hey! I enjoy talking about HQ stuff! :D
(We aren't exactly praising it anyways!)

Tott, I think part of the reason it is being dismissed is because it's a big pair of shoes to fill.
It's the lack of anything solid that make them seem a little unprofessional and frivolous.
Part of the potential success in this project is reaching the fans of the original game, but they aren't really reaching much out.

All I'm saying is that none of us is in the payroll of this project and we shouldn't be working FOR it. Or against it for that matter.
If it had been a single official update in this forum by some representative of gamezone, I'd be ok with it. They have made nothing to advertise and present those efforts to us, and we shouldn't do it for them.
They should be spamming this forum day in day out. THEY, not us.

As for the title, I really hope they can't legally call it HeroQuest. I'd hate to see someone else's idea of gameplay, figures etc presented as 'official' HeroQuest.
I prefer GW or Hasbro make an official re-release and rape the game in every aspect imaginable. We can curse them for all eternity after that.
But having some national hobbyists do it instead, goes against everything that we (fans) should expect for this game.

Let me say that if they secure the official name of HeroQuest, I'll support the project (morally, not financially).
But even then, I urge everyone willing to buy this game, to really think if they would buy it if it were called "Dungeon Journey" instead of "HeroQuest".
Don't let some random miniature company take advantage of our love for the game, and earn some big bucks in the process.

I'm not out to hurt their chances of selling or discourage anyone from buying this particular game, I have no reason to do that, it might be a great game with awesome miniatures.
I'm just surprised at how many people see this as an real opportunity to revive interest about HeroQuest, while I clearly see it as a company trying to make money.
