I love a good cheese, I am a fan of swiss cheese myself but that is mostly because of my heritage (my Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother were from Switzerland). Havarti is also an amazing cheese, but living in small town Utah we don't get out much...

You call it slicer, I call the process of shaving a cheese grating. We mean the same thing, I think.
Someone correct me if I chose the wrong word by grating. I also thought slicing is just, well, cutting off whole, uhm, slices.

Grating gives small pieces that goes on top of salad as an example whereas a slice is a full volume that is cut generally lengthwise like a sheet of paper would be a thin slice of a thick block of paper.

I have been an American for most of my life. I was a Canadian for a few weeks in the 1980's, but I went to see an exorcist and that got taken care of. I do indeed like my cheese. A day encompassing nothing but cheese, pot and Super Nintendo is a good day, indeed.

Ah, OK. Sjeng's right. But the slicer is not as wide as the block of cheese, so basically it's still grating, just not in a size suitable for salad or spaghetti.
Thing is, of course it looks like a freakin' mess that way.

Unhappy and nasty, I'll give you that. But not for me. Besides, I mostly don't care for aftermaths if the beforemaths bring fun and taste abound.
