The point you are missing, was the suggestion that can be analogs to real entries of the periodic table. The entire point of this was to pigeon-hole more entries. If you want to really get technical, none of the four classical elements even come close to being actual elements. They're not even presented periodically, because the four of them were proposed at the same time.

I'm fully aware what the joke in the original picture is about. And it was well done. It's all about the simplicity of the four classical elements as opposed to the complexity of the system of the modern elements. A periodical table with only four entries is the punline of the joke. "Pidgeon-holinig more entries" would ruin it.
But it is still an interesting thought experiment. And perhaps could serve as an ingame device for HQ, not so downright funny, but still tongue-in-cheek. So it was OK for you to try to expand the idea. But by doing so, you got "technical". Nothing wrong about it. But then, you should do it right.
That the four classical elements are not really compareable to the elements of modern chemistry is too obvious to even metion (however, I would never go so far as calling the modern ones "actual elements", or stating the classical ones are not "actual elements". They are simply two different definitions of the term "element". Scientists of the future will in all probability discard the definitions of today, too). But here the fun is to make the comparsion of the classical and the modern elements, in pressing the classic ones in a pattern (the periodic system) that really only makes sense for the modern ones - incorrect as this may be. It's a joke. But I just like an elaborated and sophisticated joke better than a flat one. So, when really expanding the idea and trying to introduce more entries of pre-modern elements into the fake periodic table, I'm all for getting "technical" and using the real alchemic tradition.

If it can be adapted to the game, then you might want to make an actual "elemental" alchemical chart. There already are such systems in most RPGs.

While we have elemental spell card sets (also "Poison dart" and "Magical damage") in HQ, those rules aren't so well defined.

I think I might print out "Ye Olde Periodic Table" and give it to the Wiz player at the beginning of my next game..."Here, Wizard, you will need this reference to keep your spells straight. It's very complicated."

Regarding the original post and HQ's magic schools, where would Chaos magic fit in?

Against the GW/Warhammer background, it's divided into the "schools" of Nurgle, Tzeentch, and Slaanesh and have nothing to do with the "imperial academic" school of magic.

Guess I didn't mean to use the word "school," in that sense. What I meant to ask is Chaos magic a combination of all the 4 elements? The HQ system of magic seems to be a much simpler slice from the whole GW/Warhammer universe.

Chaos would be an absence of those four. Chaos describes and unordered universe. Elements are a fundamental component of the cosmos itself--cosmos being the opposite of chaos.

Then it went south real fast as people started overanalyzing and dissecting the picture.
But now the thread is actually beginning to turn hilarious in an absurd Monty Python kinda way because it just doesn't end!
