Another New Guy

Another recent addition. I picked up HQ as a kid however I never played it as much as I liked to (hardly at all really). Started getting back into it over the last year and managed to get a few friends and family interested too. I was lucky to pick up Witch, Kellar's and Ogre when they were released but only discovered that the other packs existed a few years back. I'm now on a mission to make them (I'm sure this will take some effort but thankful PDF's exist) and source the miniatures because there's no way I'll pay what they go for online.

Also, thinking about painting the miniatures. I used to paint models when I was younger but never branched into miniature painting so expecting to have to learn a thing or two.

Yes, I've been reading around and this seems to be the way to go. I had a bit of a look at the Revell paints I used to use and turns out they're enamel. Might explain why I couldn't understand how others get the results they get.

A number of forum members have found the pewter minis of Patroclus and the resin recasts of bildask to be of good quality and reasonably-priced alternatives to the originals. As you'll be painting them anyway, check out this thread from the marketplace if you're interested in a compromise.
