If they had used orthogonal, you would all know it as well as diagonal.

Why'd you have to ask your parents what it meant, when the game comes with a diagram explaining that?

I am pretty sure I picked up the use of both words when I was six or seven years old. I used to swear constantly--when my parents didn't feel like spanking me as punishment, they made me copy pages from the dictionary to notebook paper. I learned a lot of words that way. I also learned to hold my pencil a strange way, because I taught myself to write before starting school ( I reverse-engineered Star Wars toys' packaging).

I read regularly when I was 4 and taught myself writing before I went to school.
Somehow diagonal and orthogonal just didn't come up...

The reason I asked in spite of the diagram might be that personal trait of mine to ALWAYS look behind the curtain and never take one point of view for truth.
I asked my mother what the word means to be convinced that the diagram shows me truth.

Did I mention that the German bracers card gave you one extra combat die FOR ATTACK?!
Because of that I challenged pretty much of the game, among those things the game term "seeing".

The German version was translated by an evil sloppy prick.

Very easy solution to this problem. The HQ board needs to be redone using hex spaces.
Then, no space is diagonal, and the heroes can move in any direction the wish without worry to
penalty or anything like that.

Anyone want to start working on that??

Damn it torilen, I don't have time for this!

This is a first approximation of what a hexagonal board could look like.

Note on doors: They have to be placed on walls, paralell with the walls and facing the center of a specific hex. If a monster or hero is positioned on the door hex, only two adjecant hexes, on either side of the door, allows a figure in them to attack in close combat. These two squares must be the most central ones.

Below, three examples are separated by thick black lines.
Yellow hex = door hex
Green hex = ok to attack the door hex from
Red hex = not ok to attack the door hex from
Blue hex = only one of these, on the same side of the wall, are ok to attack the door hex from.

I should have gone to sleep a long time ago...thanks a lot torilen! :barbarian:  [shakes fist in torilens general direction]

Does the Evil Wizard win the hex version by not killing himself out of frustration?

Come on, loosen up a bit, huh :D

I believe it would be easier than you think! At any rate, this particular map was done hastily because torilen dared me to (albeit sarcastically and indirectly)

There was no dare...no challenge issued...no glove to the cheek.
And there certainly was no sarcasm. I was completely serious.

Nice first try there, Templar.

If I remember to do so, I'll try to take a whack at this tonight. I will forewarn, it will not
look completely like the original board, that's for sure. As Templar has shown us, the original
board outline does not lend itself for hex spaces.

I do believe with some minor adjustment it can be done. I'd start on it now...but I've got to get
to sleep so I can wake up and go to dessert with my bride of 8 years today. :)

Cheers, until tomorrow.

Basically, the room borders would have to run with the hex edges.
I don't even wanna see that.
