If anyone happens to find good deals on sets of mercenary or men-at-arms figures I'd be obliged if you post them here. I'd like to use more human enemies in my custom quests but I lack the expansions...

battle masters crossbowmen are very close to the same as henchmen

The Battlemasters soldiers aren't quite as nice as the AHQ men-at-arms or Hero Quest Mercenaries, but they could do the trick for cheap. You could use the crossbowmen, halberdiers, and bowmen. You get other figures to boot, including chaos warriors.
