HeroQuest Dice roller in javascript

Postby rapirie » December 14th, 2012, 8:17 am

Hi, I have taken a gaming dice roller program in Java Script and modified it for HeroQuest.
(The original can be found here http://www.trollmystic.com/pub/open-sou ... ce-roller/)
You can select the number of dice to roll, and the type of dice, including the coloured HeroQuest dice and the red numbered dice
The script also tallies the number of skulls, white shields and black shields per row
I have also modified the original by adding the MersenneTwister random number generator which I tested (non scientific 400 rolls) and found it provided a more even distribution than the original.

I am happy to provide the script etc for anyone who wants it.

The files can be downloaded from here: http://www.filefactory.com/file/62c45k8 ... llerHQ_zip

Anybody that wants to can follow the link to play a simple text adventure called Phantom's Bane. It requires a serious amount of grinding to get through and took me most of a week. It has an old-school feel, kinda like Zorg with lots of random combats.

For those who are interested in programming, the poster included a nice tutorial on how to implement his dice roller into a game. It gets a little techy, but it is meant to reach across to a general audiance (with enough motivation to pour through the information). The nice thing is that those who are knowledgable could adapt his code into their own javascript and html code games. A lot of work is done for you. Not sure if anyone here could stretch it to Hero Quest stuff for a blog or even this site, or if there is anyone interested in that sort of thing. Still, the site was interesting.
