Never noticed before

Postby drathe » August 9th, 2009, 3:35 pm

Last night I was thinking about HeroQuest stuff. For what ever reason, I was thinking about the artwork of the different Quest Packs. Mainly how the cover art for KK and WL are vertical in length, whereas OH and WM are horizontal. Got me thinking about the art on the Quest Books. Then I realised that the art on the North American KK and WL books are both horizontal. Upon physical inspection, I see that the art for the North American version isn't that of Les Edwards, but a cartoon style replica. I wondered how they added the extra scenery that extended beyond the edge of the original canvass...

If they are replicas, im sure the artist just filled in the rest of the canvas as he/she seen fit. Ive done this in Photoshop using wallpapers that were smaller than my desktop resolution.

Necro! This thread needs pictures, and the Witch Lord keeps coming back anyway--that's what he does.

There are more differences. Looks like a whole new picture, probably just painted over a copy of the original.

Well, yes!

Perhaps we can make this a game for everyone. I have deleted my finds in the post above, so each can search for himself.
@Daedalus, Perhaps you can post scans with a higher resolution?
Have a look ;)

Changed the US image to the only one that looked better. Too bad a better image hasn't been scanned yet. :(
[Since then I Gimped the Phoenix file from the Inn and swapped out the other to keep things in house and clearer to boot. -edit]

I noticed the back of the EU RotWL Quest Booklet has an image that I don't remember the NA version carrying:

Yeah, German version with the big fat grammar bad.
It's supposed to read "Die Armee der Untoten". The only way "Der Armee der Untoten" could be grammatically correct would be some kind of dedication going on.
Then it would be dedicated to The Army of the Undead, in German: "Der Armee der Untoten" gewidmet.
Just saying. ;)

Don't worry, non-Germans can't figure out all your cases anyway. I learned them in school, but I never could remember when to use den, der, des, dem, die, dessen, etc... Horrible.

Das. Ich auch habe meinen Deutch vergessen. Wow, that was really lame German and probably grammatically incorrect. Still, I'm in a NECRO! mood.
