Too pricey for me.

I have a similar game— Star Wars Risk (The Battle of Endor), which isn’t Risk but a reskin of Star Wars: The Queen’s Gambit (The Phantom Menace). It’s a fun two-player game (claims 4, but you’re acting as a two-person team with no real separation of ability or area of control). There are three paths to victory, two of which must be completed by the Rebels to win. The Empire need only blunt them and win outright in one path. Nicely asymmetrical goals.

This adds a fourth path, from what I can see, with a little more tactical variety in each than the SW:R game offers.

But even though I love LotR and think the game is a solid system that fits the theme well (divided paths of action reflecting the differing paths of Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas, compared to Pippin, and Merry, and Sam and Frodo), the expense is… well, “Yipe!” Alas that rules me out.
“That which doesn’t kill you makes Zargon unhappy.”
