I wouldn't want any fan made quests turned into commercial official products. These are now part of the "free" repository of addons that anyone can use in their HeroQuest.

Despite them being promoted and remembered to this day by our community... Drago Brasil and Adventures Unlimited were fanzines (and I don't think the authors worked for GWS or Milton Bradley/Hasbro)... while WhiteDwarf Magazine was official GamesWorkShop (and the Marvel Winter Special was also official, as were the Dave Morris quests), the Adventure Design Kit so I consider those on a different level.

It is cool that the symbol for the Chaos Sorcerer was first used in Adventures Unlimited ("the Inn of Chaos") but it was simply a combination of the Chaos Warrior and Skeleton map icons.

As I still play “classic” HeroQuest (1989 Second Edition) with a few Golden Rules, I’ve never felt the urge to “upgrade” so I’m not really going to add much to this discussion except…

1) Move to an online living rulebook. You could still provide the latest version in print format with each publication ( and available to purchase major versions in print) but a single source rulebook that handles errata, rule clarifications and new rules would be a step into the modern era.

2) More accessories available to purchase separately, dice, dice tray, card holders, villains set, new hero type box sets, expanded treasure card deck, etc, all the bumf that you don’t include in expansions to keep the costs down.

How about an adaptation of Legacy of Soracil as an expansion?! I forgot that one on my previously posted wishlist.

Definitely excellent ideas!

I'd like to see the Wizards of Morcar remake as well as the release of the elusive Dwarf and Wizard Quest packs.

Also an Ogre Hero would be nice with the following stats:
10BP, 1MP, 3AD, 2DD
Starting Weapon: Ogre Club
Starting Armor: none
1 Movement Dice
May wield a Battle Axe 1-handed
Armor price is doubled
Plate Mail won't slow him down
May not use worn Artifacts such as Armor, Rings, Armbands, etc.
No Skill or Spell cards

Sequels! Revenge of the Frozen Horror, Resurrection of the Witch Lord, Prophecy if Telor 2: Electric Bugaloo.. etc.

I only thought of this because I was looking over FH and thought that the Yeti looked a bit small. So it got me thinking that a double based yetis, Polar Warbears and even a scaled down FH himself would be cool. They could add new monster types also of course. But I feel that the Yetis and PE got ripped off. Maybe they can add double base versions to a new expansion?

An Ogre Bard maybe? Damn no please... the Orc hero was enough for me!
MonsterMotor wrote:Also, the German language translation team should be fired and completely replaced. The German texts from the 2021+ edition are a real pain to read. Very poor writing quality.

Same for the Italian translation team. The "Scales of Elethorn" was translated with the equivalent meaning of "Libra of Elethorn"

It's a bit of a shame that all of the expansions are essentially one and done. Maybe they could do a book of new quests that re-uses the materials included in the expansions - maybe ten new quests for each expansion. It would actually encourage people to buy more of the expansions.

Heavens no! I know Avalon Hill is leaning towards classes and leaving the original Elf and Dwarf as the only races left, but as the end of Against the Ogre Hoard entails, an alliance between the Ogres and the Realm is possible. At the same time having a strong robust hero that is irritatingly slow would be well balanced. I can't really see an Ogre hero having a gimmick though.
