Whichever one you want! If you go for Frozen Horror or Mage of the Mirror be warned... they are long and grueling... to the point of insanity (if you don't modify them of course).

Many will say Kellar's Keep, but personally I think Return of the Witch Lord is better.

I did wonder the same as I have the re-release and have just purchased kellars keep.

The thing is, I have the compulsion to get all the new expansions for the re-release asap as I'm worried there will be one that'll become scarce...but hopefully not as when looking at the total cost it's nots exactly cheap!

I have my original hero quest from a kid (box taped together at the corners, bit shabby and the elf swords broke, but all there) , however, could never afford any expansions. I did look into getting the old originals from eBay but good ones were quite costly and some were super rare also!

I think this is where the root of my urge to get all the expansions originates (it's probably a once in a lifetime chance).

Edit: after posting this I bought all the expansions apart from one, which I'll get next payday....crikey!

I like to play Kellar's Keep next. The Emperor is in trouble, can't just leave him there. A lot of people complain that KK is boring, but I like it. It all comes down to personal preference.

Yes, for me as well it was always kellars keep, then return of the witch lord - a childhood friend who lived a few doors down had these and his dad was into hero quest and many an evening were spent around the dinner table there, his father being the dungeon master and my friend and I playing as the Heroes. School holidays were great as we could play until later, then I would run to my house in the dark and they would both stand there to make sure I got home safe. Great times, I think I ran as I found the evening so atmospheric my imagination was in overdrive - I mean a mummy or zombie could jump from a hedgerow, surely!

His father had also painted the figures and they were kept in the box, wrapped in a piece of soft, red cloth - funny the things you remember. Also only using pencil on the character sheets - rule 101.

He was a RSC actor as well as a teacher, couldn't of asked for a better dungeon master looking back.

My love for this game brings back alot of memories. Of maybe a much simpler time.

I'm glad I've found this forum, it's good to know the game means so much to so many.

The expansion in Spain I hear get pretty rare. And the Rogue Heir of Elethorn is sold out right now on Hasbro Pulse and only available officially in English. Then again I wonder if they would consider translating it and that explains the delay? (Or that's wishful thinking). Write strongly worded (but civil) letters to Hasbro Customer Service...

I was going to ask if he was able to get the Rogue Heir as it hasn't been on either Pulse or Amazon U.S. for quite some time.

Oh this is the one I was going to get next month, also the wandering monk expansion looks similar and that seems rare in the UK currently, but the rogue heir is currently, readily available on Amazon UK, for now...

The Rogue Heir of Elethorn Hero Collection is still in stock and available at Entertainment Earth and BigBadToyStore, two of the major retailers for Heroquest. Don't sound the alarm bells just yet.

For storyline, I think it should be KK, it makes no sense getting rewarded by the Emperor for killing WL when Emps is still stuck in KK?
But ROTWL has by far the better story to it, and the best HQ villain ever, the WL.
Or is it Skulmar??
Or Kessandra!!!
Plus I think ROTWL is easier, as the green monsters do more damage than the dead ones. And they are faster so harder to outrun!
