The Spanish version of RoTWL neither showed the map, it is like the German version.

It would be useful if you could post the product code for the German and Spanish quest books that you mention as there is a rumour that both KK and RotWL were first published in 1989 and republished in 1990 but as I have only ever seen the 1990 version which has a 1989 copyright but product code 4234GB290 (UK) and a New Zealand print of the same and both have the Warhammerish World Map but if an earlier version did exist then that may not have the map which might explain your translations...maybe...

For what I remember only KK had a reissue.
The first edition was showing demo tiles on the back of the box.

Wandering Monk's release date was changed to Jan 2nd, 2024.

Some of these files that aren't on the Inn appear on scribd.

Re: HeroQuest Publication Chronology

Postby Kurgan » April 28th, 2024, 9:42 pm

German, Spanish & Italian editions are from the year 1990. I'm surprised too, thinking the skeleton army cover was the exception, but it seems to have been fairly common! Of course the back covers of the North American and Brazilian editions was a sheet of artifact card backs (meant to be photocopied or actually cut out).

Also "Jungles of Delthrak" has been listed on several websites with a Aug 31, 2024 release date, we'll see if that changes. It hasn't appeared yet on Amazon or HasbroPulse of course but many are hoping it gets mentioned at an upcoming game convention, like next month's Modena Play (in Italy).

We don't have an official release date for "HeroQuest: First Light" other than the suggestion it will still potentially fit into the 2024 release schedule.

Also a reminder that the Mythic HeroQuest set wasn't just a US & Canada (excluding Quebec) release which was sold through the Hasbro Pulse website. It also appeared in other English dominate countries New Zealand, Australia and the UK, though they were distributed by third party partners... Zavi, Asmodee, and I am a little unsure on the last one... EB Games? I thought maybe my mind was playing tricks on me because many remember the retail version in shops (remember in the US, the retail version of the game system appeared almost at the exact same time as the Mythic deliveries proven by fans who posted their unboxings online) but old social media posting from Twitter (now X) proves it was official at least for the UK edition. I didn't dig to see if there was evidence for the others, but I imagine it was the same unless someone can correct me.

These countries allowed customers to pledge during the campaign and then they became pre-orders. I am unsure if the Heroic tier was also available outside North America though. Then for a very brief time some apparently leftover boxes of Mythic sets were available through Pulse to premium members "only" but also anyone who had the Pulse app. These were sold out very fast but I wouldn't consider this a separate release. Despite speculation to the contrary, it included the same materials at the one released in October of 2021.

It can be tricky to locate the various language editions of the remake now because some HeroQuest products on Hasbro Pulse require you to switch to the UK or Europe tabs and some are just listed once with various boxes showing languages, while others say "[name of quest pack] German version" etc.

Re: HeroQuest Publication Chronology

Postby Bareheaded Warrior » December 9th, 2024, 11:40 am

I've updated the original post, hopefully capturing the feedback from everyone, if I have missed anything please do let me know (again!)

You may also notice that I have stripped the new 2020/2021 version out from the list, but I've posted the details below, if anyone wishing to pick this up and start a new topic then please feel free!

HeroQuest 2021 Remake

In 2021 Avalon Hill (a Hasbro subsidiary), produced another HeroQuest remake but this was a remake of the 1990 Remake rather than the 1989 Original,
although arguably some consider this a Second Edition of the 1990 Remake rather than a remake in its own right as the rules are identical and changes are either cosmetic (to remove GW IP) or physical (board square size) only.

  • 2024-01-15: Hero Collection: Path of the Wandering Monk

This has been published in many languages and regions (French, German, Italian, Spanish and English) and is currently "live", the story continues...

First Light, January 12, 2025 (US pre-orders shipped from Target.com), in-store date Jan 1st (rumors of earlier deliveries coming from Ye Olde Inn facebook group I'm told, anyone got an update? I'm not a member there). European releases in various languages from Feb, March, April, and May via HasbroPulse Europe/UK and various European distributors.

Jungles of Delthrak limited edition Dice ("Crystal Inclusion") got released early in the US, and there's the upcoming First Light Dice set, both from FanRoll, same designers of the Dread Veil Dice.

Not sure now about Jungles of Delthrak release date.
