Getting in to AHQ again after a mere 30+ year break. Have been running a my own modified version of Enhanced Advanced Heroquest for some friends and family for a few sessions so far. Lots of questions and issues with the rules, so I'll start with this one.
So, loads of GW miniatures have characters and monsters using two weapons, but AHQ does not seem to have any rules covering using two weapons. There are a few examples of monsters having just a flat two attacks, and the berserker ability giving an extra attack.
So a house rule is in order of course. How about:
A model may wield more than one single-handed weapons in combat, one per arm on the model. Each weapon will allow the model to make a single attack roll per weapon wielded and roll the corresponding damage dice for that weapon. However, due to the difficulty of wielding two or more weapons at the same time, a model will suffer a -2 to it's Weapon Skill for all it's attack rolls and also when being attacked by other models.
This may be combined with the berserker ability to add an additional attack roll (controlling player chooses which weapon this attack is made with), but the model will suffer a total of -2 to their Weapon Skill when attacking and -4 to their Weapon Skill when being attacked by other models.
I tried to phrase this to be simple and also cover the possibility of model with more than two arms (skaven and chaos models) wielding more than two weapons.
What do you reckon, is -2 to WS not enough, just right or too much. Any other rules people play to cover two weapons?
