No. You do get 1 attack die though...maybe the translator saw the artwork and thought that the arrows would come out of the bracers instead of being repelled by them.

I like that idea, they are just close range darts though... assassinated!

How strange that something called an Arm guard would give you attack dice, and not defense dice???
The German version sounds littered with issues.
Anzugreifen means attack, so clearly it's correct?
Strange.

The German translation is wrong! From the UK Box:

I didn't make myself clear. I know the German version is wrong and they have interpreted it completely wrong.
I was just clarifying that the German for attack IS anzugreifen, so as to explain that it is not a problem with reading the German card.
Meaning the card is printed wrong, not being read wrong, if you get me.

Error or not, the point is if the game was printed that way, that's how people played it, hence a rule/edition variant!

Just noticed the German card doesn't have ARMOUR printed at the bottom of it either, like the UK version.
Another chance of clarification missed.

Leander wrote:So many errors in the old German version. You could defend against Ball of Flame and Fire of Wrath with a monster shield only...Talisman of Lore added 2 mind points...and many others.

Actually a Monster shield as defense gives the monsters a less chance of defending, so that works in the heroes favor. A 5 and 6 on a red dice gives the monsters a 1/3rdchance of blocking. Black shield gives them 1/6th chance.

I don't know about the Bracers, though... Those were only ever available in the European version that only allowed the Wizard to wear it for +1 defense.
Must be a mistranslation in the German version.
However in this new version any hero can wear it for +1 dense, upping their potential defense dice to 7 (8 if you have rock skin). Too high in my opinion.

Kurgan wrote:Only a few very small differences...

Borin's Armor clarifies that it can be combined with a Helmet and/or Shield.

Wand of Magic doesn't specify Elf/Wizard (so could be for any spellcaster).

Courage (fire spell) clarifies Line of Sight.

Weapons/Armor are on Equipment cards now instead of the Armory board (but the concept of "Armory" still exists). Potions in the Alchemist Shops for the Expansions are also on Cards (and EU exclusives like the Holy Water and Potion of Speed were added as purchasable "equipment."). Bracers were added (from EU) with a new (rather high) price 550 gold and can be used by anyone (clarified it can be combined with helmet and/or shield, equating it with Body armor). Hand Axe (from EU) was added but doesn't mention the Wizard not being able to use it (so he can!) with an adjusted price.

New Artifacts added to Game System: Rod of Telekinesis (once per quest, Tempest but can be resisted with mind points); Phantom Blade (non-throwable dagger that once per quest can be unblockable); Fortune's Longsword (once per quest gets a re-roll of one die). Ring of Fortitude (BP max increases by 1 when worn).

There are yet more artifacts but they only appear in the Mythic tier (Dragon Spear, Crown of Shadows) and Equipment (Rapier: 2 attack die with diagonal - sword; Wand: only usable by Warlock - 2 dice ranged attack weapon).

Otherwise it is like the 1990 NA edition.

Did I miss any? [Spell Ring might be generic now too for spellcasters I just don't have it handy to re-check at the moment...]

Have they announced if the Mythic Tier cards will be added to future expansions?
