Having been on several Warhammer forums and Electronics forums, I was used to be super-very-careful because of the toxicity that could sometimes come back from those corners of the net. Then I was seeing the people here. And relaxed.

This is the first forum where I actually made posts and participated in discussions and it was because the people here were different from other forums I had found. I am very thankful that we have had very few toxic people here, and those ones tend to leave of their own accord.
I don't remember exactly what brought me here, it was likely when I was trying to see if there were ever any other expansions besides the ones I owned. I know I lurked for quite a while (a year or two) before I became a member.

The poll is still open. And you're free to necro anything here--some of the rooms at the Inn may be dusty, but we aim to accommodate! Often members miss original threads and are glad to rejoin them months or even years later.

I found this site when doing a Google search for an official list of parts for the original board game. It turns out I was missing several goblins and orcs, and had a few other miniatures with broken weapons, but I have since purchased replacements for all of them on eBay and I'm back to a complete set. I'm glad I dug the box set out of my parents' basement a few years ago when they were going through our old stuff. I have subsequently had several other HeroQuest questions about released box sets, novels, etc, and have been able to find answers to everything I need here.

The EWP performs necromancy often, so it must be permitted here!

The short answer is an internet search, but why was I searching is a little longer answer.

I may be the only member of this esteemed fan site who doesn’t and has never owned the game!

I missed the golden age of HeroQuest as I was too preoccupied with being born and related activities, but was introduced to the game in 1999 by a friend who owned a copy of the original box set and the Return of the Witch Lord expansion (actually I think her older brother was technically the owner but you snooze you lose) and we played through both books several times and even created a few quests of our own. She moved house so that was the end of that until a few months ago when I was invited to play this “new” game called HeroQuest!

It brought back such good memories of playing the game 25 years ago that I decided that I might want to invest in a copy so wanted to do my research on whether to go with the new version or go full nostalgia mode and buy the original, what is the difference, are they compatible with each other and so on. Finding this site has given me such a wealth of material that I have been reading for weeks and have barely scratched the surface.

:whiteshield: = "shield" cancels out a skull (hero & monster)
Snake Eyes
If you roll :roll1: :roll1: on your movement roll then the evil wizard player may immediately place a Wandering Monster

Really? From what I have read so far, the person behind this account must be the well-known Bareheaded Warrior, who had mysteriously disappeared a while ago. What a shame!

MonsterMotor, close but no cigar. BHW and I are good friends in RL, he was my friend's older brother whose copy of the game we "borrowed" back in 1999 and he ended up playing with us, and we've stayed in touch over the years. It was him that encouraged me to join the Inn instead of just lurking, so I'm not sure why he doesn't contribute anymore.

Very good friends you must be, apparently. When I first read what later became BlackJax' initial post above, its authour was even the Bareheaded Warrior himself, for a day or so. Congratulations! I am confident that BlackJax will replace the gap Bareheaded Warrior left behind here more than adequately.
