. . . I'm not even sad that I can't get this, as I think it's just "okay".
I probably would have bought it though if they had opened up for Europe... What were they thinking?

Have you seen this distributer?

I did see it - thanks |_P

For starters I don't really trust that site. I've never heard about them and something about them kinda radiates an air of sketchy unprofessionalism. Maybe it's just me...
But on principle, I just don't wanna jump through hoops for something as simple as buying a product. If they wanted my money they should have made it readily available.

And again... I'm not really feeling the fire in my heart... :bites-lip:

I pick up more than 5 answers... I didn't pledge on the new HQ yet... I have 3 days left to decide what to do.
If I didn't buy it will be because almost all the last answers (style).
If I buy it will be for gift, collection, hope to see th eunreleased packs released one day and to resell or give as a gift for my nephews (they like the new style more).

My selection is:
• excited to own new material/questbooks, spells, or figures
• Stephen Baker was involved wanted his new questbook
• hoping it sells eventually retail/ becomes new product line
• want to see more HeroQuest material developed
• didn't back the fundraiser because couldn't afford it

Basically, I really love that the game is back, and I want to own the full set (Game System, both Quest Packs, and Heroine Set), but I'm cash-strapped due to a major purchase, namely a 3D Printer, which I use to make my own 3D miniatures. I not just want the game sets, but I want to see what else they make for it, like new Quests, monster types, Treasures Cards, etc. Even though I'm not a fan of the Heroes 5e D&D Player Characters used in the stretch goals, I know they can do better once they get the game off the ground.

Most of all, when it comes to new products, I rather be a customer of an end-product then an investor for a game set that, as far as I know, does not even exist. I mean, all I see are 3D rendering of the game and no actual physical prototypes.

Although, one fear I have is the line getting scooped-up by greedy Scalpers. $%&@ing Scalpers! My Battleaxe (of scalping Scalpers) adds 6 extra Combat Dice, with no defense roll, when attacking Scalpers and allows for an extra attack until all Scalpers in sight are dead or castrated... or both! :barbarian:

I still haven't jumped in, I love the idea of being able to get a re-released version all done for an ok price, but it just feels a bit half thought out. The new heroes, the stretch goal structure. I am still considering it, but it is still $300 for a game I already not only own, but I have made cards for that I like more than the ones they are offering...

Hopefully Hasbro has eyes on this and can see even in very early small sample anecdotal polling that fans/customers decidedly want this to go to retail, have broader sales in other countries, develop more new material, become a supported product line etc.

Postby lestodante » November 4th, 2020, 12:52 pm

This Hasbro campaign is not targeted at experienced player I guess. I read more negative comments than positive ones if I go reading through dedicated forums (which are powered by people who create new contents since years and discuss about variations and all). If I go to reading other "realities" like on facebook groups, there is a lot of excitement from many people and they see the new style as a great improvement to the previous release. Those people are usually people that don't even knows about differences beetween US and UK version, they never heard about different packs available in different countries and still ask things discussed and solved hundred of times in the past. They probably have played HQ a couple of times in the youth at some friend's home and never had one copy or destroyed their copy because of their lack of care in the game itself. This kind of people is the main target by Hasbro. It can be considered the newbie version of the game.
We have a totally different approach to the game, more nostalgic I think, for others it is just a cool game they can finally play again. It was the same story with the 25th version... they added a lot of content that was totally out of the HQ contest, tried to improve rules, changing style and mechanics too. People pledged it and there was a lot of excitement. Now... this new one also have the official brand on it. I just hope it will not end in the same way.

I understand. I like your cards too ;) . However, I encourage all fans to participate if for nothing else to bolster the movement. My hope is that with enough attention this becomes a game system in the like of WarHammer and DnD; becoming stronger than it was in 89-91. A genre with official expansions (lots) and figures (lots), etc. HeroQuest is excellent whether for simplicity (for younger, or new to the genre or time sensitive players) or for the ability to create complexity (advanced and fan boys). It works either way. The way I see it, if we don't push this thing into greatness, then it may die out only for nostalgia and then what are we left with? I personally like it better than WH AoS and DnD for the reasons I stated above. I'm tired of walking into a game store and they don't even know what I am talking about when I say HeroQuest unless it is an old player and they say..."oh, yeah. I remember that." Geez, makes me feel old and out of place. I'm tired of having to find things outside of HeroQuest to improve upon HeroQuest when it deserves so much more.

This thing should be popular and strong. So, I am calling for everyone who is a fan to help push this thing into the lime light. We can improve upon it later once it opens up to the market. In fact, my friend (Lemmeron), I would encourage that you send Hasbro your gameplay method regarding your cards and those "German dice", so to speak, to help them with improving upon it. Could be something if real fans had a say. Plus, they never even thought of it, apparently. We need to be the solution to making this even better. And the best way is to talk to Hasbro and show support for HeroQuest.

The makers of this new HeroQuest may not be "true fans" so to speak, but they are excited about what they are doing. The fact that they have made some small improvements based on feedback shows they are interested in what we have to say. Example: the miniatures colors and the quest correction when fans pointed it out. Plus, they "improved" upon the druid design; not ideal, but they did improve based on feedback.

Imagine, if they have some game play ideas regarding dice and cards; like yours. It may feel like a long shot, but you never know. Your photoshopping is awesome, but the game play option with the detailed equipment break down and items break down and so forth with the colored dice on tope of it, is shear improvement all the way around. Now imagine if your ideas were official. Give it a go. You could make a huge difference in this. Just go to the Hasbro sight and send them a message. Couldn't hurt. You only have to gain and nothing to lose. (Whether you do or don't, you're awesome nonetheless, Lemmeron, and your contribution to the fans on this site is most welcomed and respected.)

"The best thing about HeroQuest is more HeroQuest." - Said a true fan. :P

BStewart,

Thank you for your kind words, there are so many of us here who have put hundreds of hours into our home brews, this place is such a rich resource of community passion and creativity.

My question is how much do you think hasbro is aware of the inn and do you think the game designers have had a look at the forums? I would like to think they know about us?

I do take your point of contacting them, but I am not sure if I am the person to do it as my work although extensive builds off ideas of others at the inn too. I would like to hear other veterans thoughts and perhaps @drathe? What do you guys think?
