Very nice work on the Roll20 version! Very very cool for folks on a very limited budget.

Tabletop Simulator...

TTS is not hotseat.

Each player must own a copy of the game.

TTS allows the game master to hide things from the players during a game.

There is a special pack available. It gives you 4 copies of TTS when you buy it. Then you give 3 of them to people. It becomes cheaper than if everybody buys individually.

Thanks for clarifying. And so I assume then if you host a game session for your friends, everybody has to download and install the same mods (Hero Quest Remastered in this Case) in order to play together and see everything?

Yeah. In my case, I wanted to play with people who don't have Tabletop Simulator and didn't know HeroQuest, so it would be a little harder to convince them to buy.

Is it easy enough to set up? I haven't done anything in the back end of Roll20 so if there is any files are or anything you can share to help set this up it would be awesome!

Well that is really sweet!

It looks like there are limitations on what can be shared via roll20 depending on your subscription level.

Would you be able to share how you handled the scan uploads, and what you did for dice and tokens?

Was the content stuff that you scanned yourself, or were you using community resources? What kind of resolution have you found to be a good option? (96dpi? Higher?)

What is the character sheet called? I wasn’t able to find it when I went searching on Roll20?

Edit: and it’s “Hero Quest” not HeroQuest ... which brings up HeroQuest:Gloriana

So based on the "revised" character sheet included with the EU only Adventure Design Kit. It looks cool!

I uses the Roll20 free version so many things I did manually, unfortunately. Roll20 has a series of possible coding to make but I am not using them in games. The only automation I did was to create buttons to attack, defend, move, etc. I can explain how to do it but I'm afraid I don't have files to share.

I can't answer all the details right now but as I took too long to answer your message, let's go to what I can tell you:

- With the free account it is possible to upload 100MB of files. That was enough for maps, letters, tokens, etc. I believe I have not used even 50MB on this.

- I used community resources, so they are in the resolution I downloaded from here

- For furniture and doors I researched several on Google and community resources to select the ones I liked best. I would prefer to use it according to the Game System but I didn't find everyone in a good Top View.

- About dice and cards, it is a little boring to do but it is quite simple however. See below:

CARDS:

1 - You can add how many decks as you like. You can choose several options as seen on left side of image

Image

2 - You upload the card back

Image

3 - You create each card for deck, uploading the corresponding image.

Image

To create decks it's just that.

DICE:

Roll20 has several pre-defined dice but I wanted to create exactly the combat and movement HQ dices. To do this it's necessary to create "Rollable Tables":

1 - Basically you create the table and upload the pictures

Image

2 - Unlike cards, here you can upload only 1 time each image and insert the "weight", so skulls has weight 3, white shields has 2 and black shields has 1. It's a good way to make game harder if players want. You may change weights as you wish to to this.

Image

MACROS:

3 - I've created pretty simple macros only to create the buttons. Below a example of a macro that is executed when "Attack" is clicked

Image

a - You click on character token
b - How it works:
@{selected|name} (Get token name) lança seu ataque (write on screen something like "attacks", but I wrote in portuguese)
/roll (command to roll dice or rollable tables) @{selected|name} (get the name information from selected token) t[Ataque] (rolls rollable table named "Ataque", showed above)

Final message:

Barbarian lança seu ataque
*Dices are showed*

Here, macros linked on each character sheet to show as token action

Image

---

I know that is pretty rudimentar and there are a lot of better solutions, as TTS for example. Call me Old School but I really like to play with something I build from scratch. This add a very good felling to the gameplay. My next step is to improve more, maybe creating a dynamic map reveal that happens automatically while players move the tokens...

I found as just "Hero Quest" there. If you have Roll20 pro you may use this character sheet together some API provided by them.
