Funny extra moves

Postby burglekutt » March 21st, 2018, 7:59 pm

[This topic was moved from Board index ‹ HeroQuest Rooms ‹ General HeroQuest Discussion on 4/18/18. -edit]

I at first meant for these moves to be serious, but ended up laughing mostly. They were meant for the Barbarian or Dwarf originally. Thought you'd get a laugh out of em.

BIG SWING- Upon killing a foe, any additional Skulls transfer to an adjacent monster(if your weapon allows it). They may defend normally. Once per room/corridor.

ANGRY - +1 Att for one round per room/corridor.

CUT IN HALF- If you still have two Skulls left on an attack after killing an enemy, he is blasted in half which strikes terror into your enemies. The next enemy to (non-magic)attack you is at -1Att due to Fear. Always active.

MIGHTY ROAR- Enemies will attack and defend but will not move this round out of "fear"unless they roll a 5 or 6 on a red die for each of their Mind Points. Once per room/corridor. Meant to buy time for backup.

FIELD GOAL GOBLIN- If you have a Skull(or more)left after killing a Goblin, you may kick it at another enemy(adjacent or diagonal)ruining that enemies movement for one round.

Yes we have this as 'follow through', linked to some rare expensive weapons. All skulls rolled in attack, MIGHTY BLOW! If you link it to the 'all skulls' no need for once per area (room/corridor). Which works thematically as that's one hell of a blow.

we word it...
Any skulls not blocked follow through and hit the next target in reach.

The Warhammer mighty blow is push back. Blunt as a posed to sharp.

It's good it's linked to Mind, making it useless on undead and some would be less fearful than others. Instead of rolling 1Rd6 for each mind point i made these Mind checks, roll 1Rd6 the same or lower than your mind. I'm not sure which has the best odds. Doing it this way you could even make it the attacker that rolls. He needs to roll higher than their mind and the attacker has put the defender under the effect of FEAR!

FIELD GOAL GOBLIN- If you have a Skull(or more)left after killing a Goblin, you may kick it at another enemy(adjacent or diagonal)ruining that enemies movement for one round.

This is great, highly comical. I'd play it as kicking their head, possibly a 1Cd6 attack or 'any skulls left can be used to attack another monster in the same area'.

I think you've just created our first 'Footballer' Hero.

As for Angry, I prefer words/terms such as RAGE! Bloodlust! etc. Angry is quite weak. I'm not overly fond of the simple +1 mechanics. Something more creative such as attack every thing in the are you are in. Use any amount of your defence dice in your attack, which cant be used next time you defend (which would be clunky).

Ah yes, I saw the FOLLOW THROUGH &PUSH BACK, love em! Gives blunt weapons a use.

"Doing it this way you could even make it the attacker that rolls. He needs to roll higher than their mind and the attacker has put the defender under the effect of FEAR!"

That is interesting & will look to play testing it.

I love kicking the Goblins head off ha ha ha...! Besides stunning a enemies movement, I like your idea of it maybe doing a 1ATT instead. Your attack cuts it's head off, then you get a chance to kick it lol, I like it!

"I'm not overly fond of the simple +1 mechanics. Something more creative such as attack every thing in the are you are in. Use any amount of your defence dice in your attack, which cant be used next time you defend (which would be clunky).

I like the transferring DEFF over to ATT, I've always liked that as an option for a player. I like Rage n Bloodlust.
Perhaps once per room the BARB can hit at a plus 2ATT? I wanted it to be somewhat weak since he could use it so often.

Years ago I saw a website that had all kinds of additions involving pushing enemies back a square or using an enemy for a body shield lol, but I can't remember the mechanics & the website is gone.
Something like "running an enemy through", then pushing him back into the enemy behind him.

Maybe a enemy that rolls all Black Shields when attacking screws up somehow giving a hero an advantage.

Have you tested them in a real game? I am afraid they will end up in doing off-topic of notes and calculation to remember all the effects they can produce on different situations.
Anyway I like this idea, could be considered to roll a special die to show of there are effects or no to limit the number of use of a special ability.
My favourite one is "CUT IN HALF".

Thanks! I pictured the swing being so hard that the upper torso spins through the air guts/blood spraying everywhere with the hips n legs still standing there lol (like the movie Walk Hard) & the look on the enemies faces would be rad:)

I've seen else where on this site where ppl have made use of the extra skulls on a single attack. Maybe some players are having a good night &do this to 6 or 7 times which could make their actions Legendary or whatever. A legendary amount of enemies Cut in half:)

Just saw a good idea on another thread about hero's working together to accomplish a Feat. Here's one..

We'll call this move "300".
Instead of attacking, the first hero through the door can stop two squares from an enemy(maybe use a missile Att?), kneel down, & the next hero in the room uses him to jump off of (like in the movie 300) flying through the air gaining a +1ATT while the enemy being surprised is -1DEF. You land behind the enemy.

This Feat could do a few things:
+2ATT but land in front of enemy.
No ATT but slam into TWO adjacent enemies pushing them back one square where you & those two enemies lose your Attack this round & you are -1DEF for this round as well.

Not to funny but didn't know where to put this.
