G'day Ragnar Ironfist
Welcome and |_P to Ye Olde Inn. As someone has already said its a bit of a trap here, ..... Once in, you can very quickly forget which way is out, but fret not there are a few of us here, and there is always room for a quiet |_P :D .
Many congratulations on your expected :D . Being dad to six boys and at least as many girls, I can honestly say that the boys seem to be definitely more interested in board games where you get to chop up the bad guys than girls are  . Hehe if you it's good to play the games with him now just for a few more months or a year or two ..... It just gets better.
Welcome again Ragnar Ironfist and enjoy. It's a pretty cool way to lose track of time here.

So I scored some HQ on craigslist. My son and I both love it....

Hello, and welcome. I don't know how old your boy is, but I imagine it's not much fun playing all four Heroes by himself. (Then again, who knows?) How do you work things out?

by the way, I'm jealous you have a boy. I'm not sure if my girl will be for fighting monsters when she's old enough to play. I may have to trick her with Quests like The Rescue of Princess Ragna. :)

My boy is 6, but he's pretty precocious. He understands the basic, standard details/stats of rpg's pretty thoroughly. So yeah we have fun.

As for the 'how we work it out'.. That's actually part of the reason I'm here...to ask advice on a better way. I think I'll start a new thread, tho for all that. But until now, we've only done a couple quests. The first one was cake just playing a sole barbarian. The couple since, I just reduced the numbers of baddies. I'm a little bit of a pushover Zargon too. I'd rather see him complete a quest and have fun than kill his hero, flip the board over, and scream 'in yo' face!' (Although that might be fun too, heheh)

I'm expecting yet another future gamer any day now. Another boy, so...Sorry, I have no wisdom to offer about girls. Something really does go haywire with them somewhere along the line LOL.

It's been my experience with girls that they will play without any problems up until a certain age. Then at that point something goes wrong with them and they hate everything. But before then game on! That's how all my friends sisters were and we included them in most all the activities we did. Many goblins and other nasties were slain be them for sure.

Love your avatar. I'm currently reading the dwarfs omnibus from the black library. Your pic is the cover. My exploration of HQ quickly led to figuring out a bit of game history. It led to WH Quest, Space Marine, Space Hulk, and WH 40k which is all the rage with kids today. I then had to make a point of seeing if there were actual novels based on this seemingly very rich world. Then I found there's like a million. And since I love and always played dwarfs, I found that omnibus. It's brutal. And by brutal I mean awesome.
