Another minor update to the story. Would have done more, but we were getting power outages, even while I was typing.

Glad I didn't lose it.

Story is here, for those who haven't seen it. Will be adding some more in now. Dry spell is over. :P

Nice, looking forward to finding out what he saw. There's a couple of capitals that should be lower case, "IN a few moments, they were at the door at the back. IT was solid oak..."

I need to work on my story, I'm completely scrapping the intro I wrote because I don't like it. I'll just introduce the world gradually as I'm telling the actual start of the story. It's really good in my head, I just need to figure out how to write it properly.

I do the capital thing alot. Holding Shift key down for too long so get 2 capitals instead of one.

Feel free to check out the stories from my FB page as well. I am doing one more final edit of a massive super hero tale I wrote.

Going to submit again to the L Ron Hubbard comp.

Writing a story is like walking. You take the first step on your journey. You know your destination, and a few places along the way. But not always sure how you're going to get there. But you'll never get there if you dont take that first step!

Apparently if you want to get a story published then it's all about the first chapter because that's what you have to send out and they decide based on that. I suppose that makes sense I suppose because if you're an unknown author that's what will decide if people bother to read the rest of it. I think I might be better off writing the Steven King style short stories ideas I've got first,

For me it's hitting the bloody ; key when I mean to press the ' key. I'm sure it's moved. I even did it when I wrote this post.

I have one called The Collective.

Have a Prologue and 2 chapters done. Submitted them and a synopsis to a comp, but didnt hear anything back.

Will keep writing it though, as it gets totally awesome down the track!

SYNOPSIS: Chris and Craig are brothers, identical twins. They share a secret they don’t want anyone to know, not even their parents. Their mother, Corinne, has a secret of her own. She just doesn’t know she has one after having a serious car crash, then being electrocuted. Their father Brent was one of the ambulance offices that revived Corinne. Their parents know the boys have that strange connection only identical twins seem to have. They know things about each other without communicating, where each other is and what each other feels. Yet despite being identical, the twins couldn’t be more different. One likes to sing, dance and act in school productions. The other plays lots of sport and trains in as many martial arts styles as he can find. But Brent and Corinne feel there is something more to the boys, something they are hiding.
An accident causes Corrines’ memories to return. Fearing her past will catch up with her family, she disappears. Brent is determined to find her, even though she left a note, plus a small fortune, warning him not to come looking. Brent goes looking anyway, leaving the boys in the care of his brother. While their father searches for his missing wife, the boys grow up. With more freedom, the boys get a better handle on their secret as they head off to university. With Craig a natural actor and Chris proving to be an amazing stuntman, the boys push their studies towards the movie industry.
Brent, who has unwittingly missed large chunks of the boys lives, has gotten closer to find his missing wife after years of searching. Brent learns there is an international government agency that is looking for her as well. Not to mention a mysterious group of people that seem to know a lot about her previous life, who would prefer the government agency do not find her. They want to help find her before the government does, but they may have their own agenda.
After making an award-winning short movie, the boys are propelled in to Hollywood style fame. But this draws attention from an unwanted source, the group that searches for their mother. Its’ leader seems to know their secret, as well as everything about Corinne. Could an offer from this shadowy individual be everything the boys want, revealing the truth about them and their secret? Or is it trap to get hands on the boys for the groups own purpose?

Definitely has potential to be an interesting story. Good hooks with the secrets to get people interested.

And the hooks are a doozy!!

Just working on trying to get my "The Captain and the Commander" story published first. It's my first real epic sort story/novella.

Had a published author friend read it and she said she couldn't put it down!!

My plan is to get it out there so one day, people at Supanova (Aus version of ComicCon, although we do have ComicCon here as well, just not like the US) are Cosplaying dressed as my characters.

Mind you, found a story site that takes fantasy fiction stuff. Says no vampire/werewolf love stories, but they dont mind an elf. :P
Might get Reezarts' story out there too!

That's encouraging. It would be even more encouraging if there's other published authors that she knows and you don't who could review it.

I still don't know where to start with mine, the main one I'd like to write I mean that's set in a fantasy world. I know that I've got eight central characters that need to be introduced and an empire that needs to be described but I'm not sure about the best way to do it. I know that I want something interesting to already be unfolding as the first chapter starts otherwise it seems like all the characters were just waiting around for the story to begin. I was thinking that the first eight chapters could introduce the characters separately but I'm not sure that's a good way of doing it.

Find a way to link a couple of them together. Or even just a momentary passing of a few of them.

Then something happens to bring them together.

Most of the time, I have a general direction of where I am going. I'll be halfway through the story when, WHAM!, the link hits me.
You just need to start. Even start each person individually like you said, then see where it takes you. Once the juices start flowing, the creativity comes to the fore!

Oh, I am editing the Reezart story part, where he wakes up in the Scribe tower. Have a way to make it flow better from his unconsciousness in to the job.

Was reading through it, finding a few minor things to fix. Got to that part and was a little 'UGH' with the flow (as has been mentioned)
Was pondering on it while hanging out washing, when the needed change came to me.

I've know from the start (we're talking nearly twenty years ago when I first came up with the idea) exactly what brings them together, once I reach that point it should become much easier. It's just getting to that point that's the problem, I've had a few false starts already that have been scrapped because I was trying to force it.

Yea that's where I thought it seemed like there was a bit of the story missing because he doesn't really question what's going on.
