Artscow Card Decks

Postby motoyugota » May 26th, 2015, 9:45 pm

So, I'd like to print out all of the cards via artscow, to give everything a uniform look (some of my cards are pretty beat up). Has anyone set up decks there that they could share?

Not yet for HQ, but soon.

I can give some general formnatting advice if you need it, since I've done all sorts of prints these in the past.

I sliced up the PDFs on the site with the GIMP and put them into card decks on artscow, but I'm one card short of 4 full decks. Here's what I included (all from the North America pages):

All cards from the base game, including the localized equipment cards by drathe
Kellar's Keep artifact cards
Return of the Witch Lord artifact cards
Against the Ogre Horde ogre cards (both versions)
Wizards of Zargon (Morcar) Mercenaries, treasures, all spells
Mage of the Mirror all cards
The Frozen Horror all cards

I'd like to add the Wizard cards from Wizards of Zargon, but I don't have access to the file yet. I'm also thinking about doing the UK equipment cards, since there are different items there. Anything else that it makes sense to include (UK treasures?)

Also, any thoughts on creating multiple copies of the equipment cards from the base game, since there is really no limit on how many of those can be purchased?

We use 3 shield cards and such. anything that's used by several characters, because it's just so much cooler to have all those cards your character uses in front of you.

That sounds like a good plan.

And I just found the "additional cards" page, so I'm pulling the unique items and the custom potions and such. The "spell schools" I think will wait for now.

Okay, next question, a little more general. The different card PDFs (especially the custom equipment sets) say they are for use with this set or that set. Do you guys typically follow that, or do you just put it all together and have at it? Because if there's a reason to keep them separate, I'm thinking about adding an "expansion symbol" to the cards before I have them printed.

I would just use whatever with whatever. The expansion titles are there primarily so downloaders can tell which cards came originally from where. Once you start mixing card sets together, you play house-rule-a-ganza anyway.

Though I agree with Count Mohawk that throwing them all together works just fine, I also think that an "expansion symbol" would be awesome just to have. You could always do both. :D

That makes sense, and since I just figured out how to add a second image to a card in artscow, I think I'll do that (I already created the decks there and didn't want to have to redo all of the images individually). Now I just need to come up with some icons.

You could always base them on (or use) Icons from some of the Big Bads' in the various Expansions...

Base set = Gargoyle
FH = Well, Frozen Horror (or Barbarian maybe?)
MotM = An Elf...?

And so on?

It would be a quick way to do it and the Icons should be easy to find and tweak (Make them all purple or something to differentiate from Monster types maybe), or just to draw inspiration from.

Just a thought there, but i'd say you are likely to have dozens of options. Not that you said you were stuck.
