Quest Booklet Formats?

The files I recently posted are scans, as will be the rest of the booklet style files posted in the near future. The Against the Ogre Horde and Wizards of Zargon are homemade localisations of the European versions that were never released in North America, but designed to look as if they were really made by Milton Bradley. You're welcome. Glad you like them.

Ah, I see now. So, they can't actually be printed out and folded into a booklet like the Remastered quest books. I'd be willing to work on reformatting those if you'd like. I would need un-password protected files so that I can open them in Photoshop and rejigger things though. If you're interested, shoot me a PM and we can work it out.

Oh, the new Frozen Horror and Mage of the Mirror Quest Book files are reformatted fold-able now, just like the Remastered books. They're just scans rather than total remasters from scratch. No need to make them again from scratch when I have high-quality scans to work with.

And so they are. I swear I had downloaded the new ones last night. When I printed the odd numbered pages from MotM this morning before work, they were not booklet style. I just re-downloaded and they are the correct format. Odd. I think my age is catching up to me!

The North American versions of the Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord Quest Books are now in booklet format.

I really need to update those Quest Book scans. That Witch Lord is a little faded compared to the others. It'll happen... eventually.

Update: Game System Quest Book and Instruction Manual are also in booklet format now.

Do you have any plans to do any of the homebrew quests in booklet format?
I've tried to do Return of the Witch Queen and Attack on Oakdale in this way with limited success.

That would be entirely up to the man in charge of them. At this moment, I don't believe there are any plans. Right now, we're just trying to get all the old Quests from Agin's Inn updated to a consistent format.

Im confused as how to print the new duplex booklets, do i just print all the odd pages and then flip and print the even pages? I cant seem to get it to turn out right. Thanks Much Tom

Quite often (and as is the case with my printer) printers have an option under the properties button that allows double-sided printing. The way it appears on my screen when the printer menu opens to allow you to adjust the size and pages being printed, beside the selected printer at the top is the properties button. On the next page you can set double-sided printing and then set whether to print double-sided along the short, or long edge of the page (depending on what you're printing double-sided). I've never actually printed just the odd then even pages. I'll test it out late this evening to get that answer, unless someone else already knows and beats me to it, such as Koren_nRhys whom I believe prints odd then even on the reverse.

My test result is as follows:

Printer is a bottom loading laser. As sheets are printed, they are returned on top, face down.
Test file was Return of the Witch Lord.
I printed odd pages first, from the total range of 1-16 (remember to cut the range down by one sheet to avoid printing the credit page. There are 17 pages in the file).
Once they printed, I realised they would not be in the proper order (they were in reverse order, which is why it's always better to use any double-sided printing functions built into your printer software).
Keeping the original pile face down and in the same direction, I placed each sheet into a new pile (still face down), one at a time to reverse the order.
I noted that I would need to turn the entire pile 180º in order for the even pages to be printed in the proper direction (again, always best to use double-sided printing that's already built into your printer software and follow its instructions).
I printed again the page range 1-16, but only the even pages this time.
Again, they are in reverse order, so one by one, I transferred each sheet to a new pile.
I folded them in half and voila! Proper booklet in proper order.

Keep in mind that every printer is different. From the direction they load to the side they print on. So this won't work for everyone. Sometimes it's best to do a grey-scale test run of pages 1-4 to figure out how your printer works before doing the whole batch. Or better yet, check to see if your printer has a double-sided printing option and use that.
