Though unamed, my favorite gate is the one at Kellar's Keep where Kenaron, Captain of the Emperor’s Guardian Knigts, made a final stand against Morcar/Zargon's Doomguard. Though Kenaron fell to a firestorm cast by Morcar/Zargon himself, his sacrifice single-handedly saved the Empire's army in a successful rear-guard action. Epic!

Gate of Doom with fresh heroes!

Cut your way through to the north and try to run from the army.

The Great Gate isn't anything special, it's a decent starting quest for Keller's Keep but nothing super special about it.

The East Gate has some Dwarven spell on it that challenges heroes mind points. It also includes the Shapeshifter, which is an interesting monster to play. Borokk is featured in this quest as well, a magical sorcerer who targets Mind Points, so this one has some interesting elements. The final fight against 2 Dread Warriors and 4 Abominations is a challenging one.

The Gate of Doom is has a really fun opening challenge, 4 rooms of skeletons, Dread Warriors, Zombies and Mummies. A Great way to start off Return of the Witch Lord.

The Gate of Bellthor is a good one, known primarily for the fight with a toxic Gargoyle before the heroes are captured. Unfortunately it's not at the top of the list as the Gargoyle wasn't challenging enough and the heroes come across 2 chests with 500 gold coins, but since they're capture and all their gold is taken, what's the point if they can't spend it?

In the Last Gate the heroes encounter Kessandria, the Witch Queen and several Doomguard. I have nothing against this one but it's not as memorable as East Gate or Gate of Doom.

The Glacial Gate is a cluster-fudge. The quest is uneven where the heroes can easily bypass rooms and just skip half the quest by going through the Ice Ledge room. There's no boss or anything that sticks out as special about this one.

It's a close call between the East Gate and Gate of Doom, but there's just a lot going on with East Gate, the Shapeshifter.

Glacial Gate. Some cool (literally) stuff in it.

Now, you get to the square before the ice slide and search for traps. The pit trap is revealed. How in the world did you find that? You proceed to go and disarm it and go straight down the slide. Where was the slide when you were wondering about the corridor looking for traps?

Some things in HQ are best not to question and just accept as it's such a great game, and The Frozen Horror was a great quest in my opinion.

Although I had hoped that this thread would not become so spoiler-heavy, I am happy to see the participation.

Personally, I have no favourite Gate, as there is something interesting and special inside all of them. All of these quests have deserved their place in HQ very well in my view. Some are even nearly perfect pieces. But I may have a least favourite one, which would be the Gate of Bellthor; it has quite disrupting consequences for the whole campaign, but that's still ok.

Also, the embedding of the Gates into the quest series is great! Though, the Glacial Gate is the only quest in the whole Barbarian Quest series that I find both enjoyable and playable by the official rules. Don't walk down further!
