I don't know alot about computers so i make mygirlfriend do all the downloading and printing, i have noticed printing on photopaper and then gluing them looks alot better than paper cardstock paper. when you print on paper it seems to get fuzzy , espeicaly the art on the backs of the cards. just a thought.

Ghan, that makes me drool and daydream and wish to have both miniatures and a 3-d scanner/printer. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee(girlish scream in case you don't recognize it).
Sure it's pretty scary when the witch lord returns but what you should really be afraid of is "Resurrection of the Witch Lord". Resurrected baddies always come back more threatening than ever, usually kind of demonic with wings and horns and hell fire to announce their arrival. Think Gannondorf or Mother Brain from Super Metroid.

A 3d printer just under $500 Could solve the hard to get mini problem. Any thoughts on problems we could encounter? One thing could be Hasbro having copyright issues?

The technique is promising a lot for the future, but until now for some good results you should give more than 10.000$. The cheap machines have very bad details with lots of lines as the darth vader picture at the first posts. Of course, If you can sculpt, you can use milliput and a hobby knife to fix some details, but I’ll recommend you to wait 3-4 years and try this latter.

The youtube video didn't show alot of lines, but unless I see it in person it's hard to tell. I think in 3 to 4 years you will see the price of the machines drop and the quality get better. Then a person wont have to pay $600-$700 for Elf quest expansion packs just to get the mini's.

Even at that price, it would be the same as going after a complete set. Might as well get the printer. It will also be cool when they eventually print the 3D object in COLOR! No more painting!

Unless you really really want to.

Pathfinder Miniatures are doing just that now. Prepainted minis done on a 3D printer.

I printed out the tiles on a high gloss sticker paper then applied it to an illustration board (like poster board but thicker). For the cards I took the sticker paper and put a higher dense paper between it (like cover sheet paper). My brother in law works in graphic imagining/designing and he said about the figures I'm SOL. I'll spend alot of money replicating them or time resculpting them.
