French releases

In France,HeroQuest appeared in 1989.

The first box contains 17 opened doors & 7 closed doors.
The first quest is "the maze".
There is only the staff (2 combat dices and allows diagonal attacks) for the wizard into the gear heroes can buy between quests.
More interesting,we only had 3 shields cards and 3 helmet ones.
The rule booklet is also different of the other ones we had later.

In 1991,HeroQuest brings new things :
15 opened doors & 5 closed
2 new protection cards into the gear choice for the wizard (cape de protection & remontant) which give to the wizard a 4 dice result for his defense !
The rule book is revised and changes a little bit.
Only one helmet and one shield this time !
Lance, hachette (little battle axe) and dague appear into the gear choice cards.
It also means players have to choose only into the available cards and cannot purchase something in double.
Something not so hard after all since the monsters have only one body point of life.

In the end of 1993,for christmas, after the third "real" expansion "wizards of morcar" a last box called "HeroQuest special edition" appears.Henchmens and the big quest are the only new things players can discover.

For each release we can notice a little difference into the printing for the cards colours and elements of the boardgame.

I never realised there were that many differences between the different language sets. My only HeroQuest stuff in French is the Nouvelle Édition and it was pretty much the same as my British Advanced Quest Edition. Although I don't know if my Nouvelle Édition is from France of if it was actually released in Quebec where I got it. I expect France.

We're always looking for scans for the site too if you're willing and able. Especially of the expansions. I see the Against the Ogre Horde wasn't released in French. It wasn't released in Dutch either. Thus far I've only verified its release in English and German.

Your box is certainly french. (Canadian version should be the same than US I think isn't it ?)
I can provide you scans of all entire booklets (rules, quests books) but it will take time.
You'll see we were lucky into our maps...
And where to send it ?

Hasbro Canada never translated the North American edition into French. I don't know if it was distributed in French Canada at all, or if Hasbro Canada thought it easier (and cheaper) to import the French Version from Hasbro France.

Hello again.
I checked your website & all updates you've done : great job !
Thanks !

However I remember something is missing.... yep :
The new character sheets delivered into the main gamesystem of '94 !
I have to search for some in my boxes,if I cannot find one I will try to ask my neighbour who also has this box.
I'm pretty sure he got some left...

Sweet, thanks! Would that be the Character Sheet that was included in the Adventure Design Kit?
