Update:

I got an older version of your game to run on my laptop. I don't know which version it is but it looks like the date the application was last modified was Sep 2, 2009. Further checking showed the application in the zip folder was last modified Aug 11, 2009.

It plays fine so far, aside from the fact that I keep dying in the darn Trial. :( Totally not your fault, of course. That first quest is a beast of quest. ;)

I'll keep fiddling with the more recent updated versions, but at least I do have a version that will play well. That's a relief because I really enjoy this game.

Thanks for your help, Lurch. :)

The only major change that has occurred from that version, besides some bug fixing, to the current version is that I'm using an update of the game programming program.

I have seen reports similar to yours from other people playing different games using the same program. It looks like it only affects a select number of people but it's hard to pinpoint what's causing the fault. At least I can safely say that it isn't my programming skills that are causing the issue this time. :)

Hopefully there will be another update that fixes this issue.

Well, I did get through the Welcome glitch and was able to Start a New Game and name my heroes. But after I chose my Wizard and Elf spells this error message came up:

___________________________________________
ERROR in
action number 1
of Draw Event
for object drawdiceendturn:

Error in code at line 9:
if turntextypos > 40
^
at position 9: Unknown variable turntextypos

I clicked Ignore to see if I could still get into the game but it gave me the error message again:
___________________________________________
ERROR in
action number 1
of Draw Event
for object drawdiceendturn:

Error in code at line 9:
if turntextypos > 40
^
at position 9: Unknown variable turntextypos

Sorry, I still had trouble. I'll try it from another computer later.

I know this is an old thread, and you said you haven't done much for a while on it Lurch.
But I am playing with the graphics/gifs in Photoshop to try and make them resemble HQ
Characters. Think I can manipulate some femal characters too. Unless the other person,
from the other site has theirs finished first. It's a slow process, with a learning curve,
converting the sprites.

Got a new wizard done, looks closer to the original after a few minor changes. Have a pretty average looking female wizard too.
Got a female barb working okay though. My girls like the fact there are female options to play.
Found an elf substitute, but some of the GIFs are different size. Trying to resize them to fit in with the rest.

It's manipulation of sprite graphics. I can draw freehand, have never been able draw from scratch on PC.
Will get some images up shortly.
