Ideas for Artefacts/Special Items.

Apologies in advance for any Artefacts I mention that may have been devised and posted by anyone else on this board. I dont want to claim any idea if ive stolen from anyone else. (I tend to pick ideas from forum and other fantasy games and try to fit into hq.)

My ideas are untested so far, and only in the planning stage.

Crystal Pendant
To be worn by the Wizard. While wearing, this gives the Wizard the protection of an extra body point and 1 extra mind point.

Wizard Warstaff
Staff which works the same as a normal staff, but when the wizard completes set number of quests, eg 3, he can then fire a bolt of energy for 2cd from the warstaff. To stop unlimited use, one mindpoint per bolt must be used. Plan to maybe make more powerful after completing another set number of quests

>>>>>>>>> Axe
Not thought of a suitable name for this. Only available to dwarf, but works the same as normal battle axe, except it is much lighter and can be used one handed, allowing the use of a shield. Not sure if this should have any special attachments to it, like the spirit blade for eg, where its more powerful against certain foes.

Fire Horn
The legendary Fire Horn from the old spectrum game, The Bards Tale. This can be used to blow fire on any enemy in same room for 3cd. Also attack any seen foes as long as they are no more than five squares away. This only has a limited use of 6 uses before it burns itself out.

Like the Pendant.

Wizard's Warstaff should't damage the Hero. Maybe it could have something like roll a d6 at the start of the quest. place the die on the card. Every time it is used make the die show 1 lower. When on 1 is up and a bolt is used, flip the card over as you cannot use any more bolts this quest.
Or you could go the Zelda route and only let the Wizard create bolts if he has full body and mind points.

I know it isn't a great name but you could call the axe a Dwarven War Axe (shamlesly ripped from Pathfinder RPG).

Fire Horn is also cool. It should have effect like other fire spells though and auto deal the 3 damage, but have it blocked on a roll of 5 or 6 on a d6.

Just my 2 cents

Comments and input are always welcome. As i've said, they are just at the planning stage. I tend to change things once they are in gameplay. Like your idea for the Warstaff, where no damage gets done to Wizard.

What about a "Total Blast", (pinched off a toilet cleaner ad. here in UK, I knew I would find a use for it) I see you have been promoted again! Watch out for pink Skels, they are on the lookout for young virgins

The Total Blast idea is a very interesting one. It could use all remaining points from the staff and do an attack for one more die than points were left. (IE 3 remaining points = 4 die attack.)

Side question: what is the cut off age for young?
