Alas my poor thread, I have neglected you too long! Thankfully work/family/travel has largely wrapped up for the season, so now I can sit down and start updating again. While I haven't been able to update, I've at least been busy. Plenty of stuff to update over the next little while, but first up I figured I'd show what I'm working on right now.

Having been digging around the internet (Well, dug around, it was months ago) I saw plenty of terrific examples of some very talented folks having taken their furniture game to the next level. Sadly I do not possess such mad skills... yet! No better way to learn than to hop to, so I started with tables, the throne, and weapons rack. I also pillaged my bitz boxes to find some appropriate pieces, having almost nothing at all to do with covering up spots where I messed up with my green stuff. The skull is from the newer Skeleton kit from Warhammer (Great kit by the way), and the rat is from pretty much any Skaven kit I believe...

The icon on the back of the throne is from an old 6th (?) Edition Warhammer Fantasy Dwarf Shield.

Progress continues!

The Rook is back! Continue.
Looks awesome, the padded cloth stuff on the throne looks like what it's supposed to look like, as does the table's wood grain. Nice design for the throne back, shape and bit and everything. Looking forward to seeing more.

The furniture looks great! I think we've looked at the same images. I'd like to get my furniture upgraded like that but don't have the time. It'd also take me a while to be able to do something like what you've done as I lack the artistry skills. Also, the throne icon looks damn good.

Furniture updates continue!

First up was the weapon rack. Time had had not been too kindly to this particular piece of furniture, but seeing as it had survived decades in storage and several moves (Including one transatlantic move), it didn't do too shabby. The curved sword was broken, the pike was long gone, and the left support was broken off (I re-glued it before this picture). Check out those sexy enamel paints, which likely cost my father a brush or two as I know I was terrible for taking care of those supplies when I was that age.

Seeing as I was now the lucky owner of two weapon racks I felt this was a good time to do an episode of 'This Olde Furniture" and do up one as a shiney new piece, and use this one to make the old and rusty weapons rack for The Trial. It still maintains the rough shape and is definitely the HeroQuest weapon rack, but slightly different, and soon to be far more rusty!

Here's the tomb. Plenty of plasticard, leftover skulls, and some green stuff. Learned a lot about working with the plastic from this particular piece. The sword on the side is pilfered from a Black Templar kit.

Next up I should probably post a few more painted pics...

I have these nifty little sword bits on the sides of the tomb myself.
And I would have fun to paint this weapon rack, too. All the different rusts and verdigris and moulds and lichens...

Seems my photography is just as dim as ever. No worries though, I shall endeavour to improve as I go.

Today's update shows off the finished furniture I had shown previously. The photography robs them of some of their highlights, but I think the point is still made. First up is the first table, now with food, mug, and rat.

To give you an idea how much is being washed out, the highest colour here is Screaming Skull (Bleached Bone by the old scale).

Next up is the rusty weapon rack for The Trial.

Image

And finally, the tomb. Which shall soon play the part of Fellmarg's Tomb.

To update how I'm doing on the miniatures, I have a handful of greenskins left to do, the female heroes, and the Barbarian (Who vexes me still). Here is a progress shot:

And finally, following Goblin-King's excellent List of Special Monsters, I felt a Guardian of Fellmarg's Tomb was in order. I dug through the bitz bin that time forgot and pulled out a mummy I believe was from the same era and I believe he shall do nicely.

Getting closer!

Wow that furniture looks so amazing!! I wish I had some plasticard here. Looks like a great resource for modding.

I've covered myself in plasticard, styrofoam, styrodur, cork, sculpey, gluegun...
When I'm ready to start, I'm ready to start.
The only thing I can't seem to find is foamboard. Does anyone know a European or even German product name for that? Is there such a thing over here?

heh, THAT I have. It's called foamboard in the Netherlands too. I bought mine here: http://www.petervanginkel.nl/cat/1264/foamboard (has a store in Maastricht).
also: http://www.foamboarddirect.nl/foamboard/

there are more like those.

I'm such a dimwit, sometimes. Never cared to type it into the Amazon search engine, which will automatically...
Ah well. Found it.
