List of Miniatures for Monsters & Characters
Posted: December 13th, 2014, 5:54 am
I compiled a list of proxy miniatures I would need for playing HQ and all its official expansions.
This is not to make other people's lists obsolete - I remember several posted at the inn - but to accomodate and shape my own choice of miniatures, as I will be painting proxy miniatures for HeroQuest under the following criteria. Nevertheless, this list is slightly changed from meeting my own ends towards meeting others' who want to collect miniatures for HQ in that it avoids changes of monster types. For example, I won't be using Yetis for The Frozen Horror, but Dryads.
Criteria:
1. What you see on the gameboard is what you get: No chaos sorcerer to represent Sir Ragnar, no regular orcs to represent orcs with crossbows if regular orcs are also in the quest.
2. The amount of proxy miniatures for each specific monster type meets the amount of figures that officially came with an expansion or the maximum amount needed (suggestedly or as a set limit) at any given point during the quest.
If an expansion requires more of a monster type already listed in the game system or an earlier expansion, that earlier number is modified instaed of listing one monster type several times (e.g. orcs, skeletons...).
3. Within a given quest, each character is represented by one miniature (more if the appearance changes, like it does with the Witch-Lord through several quests).
4. If, in several quests, characters meet similar presumptions ("Evil Wizard", "Chaos Sorcerer", "Warlord (human)" and there's only one of that type in each quest, only one miniature is needed to represent them all.
5. I used the NA versions of game system and expansions and Phoenix' and drathe's localizations, wherever applicable (it's recommended for Against the Ogre Horde and Wizards of Morcar if you play NA rules).
6. Some characters might be storytelling devices and are not required as a miniature at all. Those are given in italics.
