How should I equip my unarmed monsters?

Found these defenseless creatures in a HQ game system purchased at a garage sale. Sadly, I don't have any spare weapons for them :(

I'm looking for weapons that fit in thematically with the style in the HQ universe. Perhaps these dudes could have different weapons to set them apart from their peers? Whatever they find, they're just itchin' to fight again. Otherwise, Zargon will kick them out of the dungeon!

Clubs. Easily made from anything straight and round and some green stuff or whatever.

Or perhaps spears - then you could play them as actually being equipped with spears and able to attack diagonal.
If you go for spears you could saw of the orcs' hands and turn them ~a quarter counter clockwise. Then the could look like they are stabbing with the spears or perhaps about to throw them.

Spears! Of course :)

Do you usually make your weapons from scratch, or cannibalize them from other minis?
For instance, is there a resource for heroquest/warhammer weaponry bits? I'm very new to modeling custom minis

Or a net. And doing the hand twisting with the left hand and putting a short sword in there. Please, no trident.

Cannibalize eeery day!
Well, what I suppose most mini enthusiasts does is that they have a lot of leftovers form regiments or just trash models.
I would recommend getting some spears from some other models. It's not exactly cheap but lots of sellers on eBay sell bits and weapons from various wargames. I'll bet you could find some spears that fit your purpose. You might have to cut of a hand/arm holding the spear though.

IF you insist on making some yourself I'll instead recommend buying some thin metal copper or brass rods from a hobby store. Sculpting long things like spears from greenstuff is doable, but without something solid inside it's kinda fragile.
The spearheads should be made from greenstuff.

It's called "Ebay". Look for "Warhammer bitz". There are entire shops full of this stuff.

I'd rather recommend steel wire. It's also sold in modelling stores and comes in different precise thicknesses. 1mm looks very good for pole weapons (not the "telegraph pole" look of Greed Workshop polearms). It's very cheap and extremely stable. Just a bit hard to paint. I recomment putting it in vinegar for some days to let it rust.

I second all of G-K's and BB's posts.

What I would do is search for Warhammer goblin spears. There should be 5 or so for 2 bucks somewhere in a store. Warhammer Orc spears, I can tell you straightforward, are too large for HQ orcs in my opinion.
A) If the goblin hand is too small for the HQ orc arm, cut it off from the spear with clippers, file around the remains, drill a hole in the hand, shove the spear through, slide in a tiny drop of plastic cement from both sides. The stuff melts two pieces of plastic into one.
B) If the goblin hand fits the orc's size (I don't know if it does), cut off the orc's hand and glue the whole spear thing on with plastic cement in the angle you want. You don't need to pin this when you use plastic cement (see comment above).
Sand down where the angel doesn't fit.
Play with the cement. If you want something to be filled out, squeeze the glue so that, when it's dry, you can sand it down. This only makes sense if you plan on painting or color coding your minis, which you do, if I recall correctly.
