Fimir test paint scheme

Postby Spiky » October 14th, 2012, 3:43 pm

Hi,

I'm painting up my Fimirs, but am using slightly different colours to the pictures in the game - here's a test paint scheme, do you like it? :fimir:

I need to paint a pupil, and finish the basing...

Feedback appreciated! :D

Regards,
Steven

Hello steven, i'm not quite sure of the actual color on the picture. Is this yellowish or light green tone ?

The painting is like the other minis, of course really good ;)

I like the colour, it makes them more distinctive from the other greenskins. Again, another very nicely painted miniature.

It's sort of yellowy-brown. I used GW Graveyard Earth, Desert Yellow then Kommando Khaki for the skin shades.

Thanks for the feedback! :-)

I like the colors. It reminds me of a style I first saw viewing some French painters' Warhammer orcs. More natural, less greenskin. At first glance, the red tail made me think violence. But now I'm stuck with another image that has to do with another peculiarity of the Fimiri.

I like it very much!
Not so sure about the green eye though. I think it's because it's actually a darker color than the skin.
I think I would have gone for either bright yellow + whith highlight or Red to yellow glowing eye.

I'm with Goblin-King about the eye.
A swampy-diseasy-yellowy or sickly orange eye would fit the scheme, which is one of the best I've seen for Fimirs.

It's 95% perfect, except for the eye and the tail. I'd paint the tail in the same skin tone, perhaps gradually getting darker near the end, with white bony spikes.
Superb paint job, lots of detail. ;)

I too have always been on the fence when it comes to the color of the fimir tale... make it the same as the body or go a different route. I have seen plenty of examples of both choices out there, and I personally favored the same color as body option when I paint mine... But the color choices you chose really compliment each other and it looks like a natural fit to me. very nicely done.

Thanks for the feedback - the eye is now changed and I did a small amount of work on the tail - I'll post another picture shortly :)
