Barbarian quest pack - frozen horror painted figures

Postby tasoe » October 8th, 2012, 12:50 pm

I've been working lately on some frozen horror figures (unfortunately not mine) and I'm giving my best shot on them.
I've been going with the images on their cards and I have the Ice Gremlin done so far.
Here it is, more figures to follow:

[Edit: all the figures are finished]

Tasoe!!! Will you immediately paint his wand blue inside his hand!

That aside, great job.

Very good job, nice details in the face. I like how you did this ice weapon thingy.

Do you want critical comments? Like probably everyone who paints himself, everytime I see a figure I notice a few things I think the painter could do better. But mainly I just want to say you did a great job here.
Have a look ;)

thanks for your comments!

thanks for that notice goblin-king. I'll try to cover it up. Unfortunately this happened on all 3 gremlins, I guess I didn't took great care in that area.

Thank you big bene for your comments. I always accept critical comments, that's the point. Goblin-king's remark was very helpful.
I sometimes I don't like comments that I have no use for them. For example if one was to say that I should drybrush the beard, I would be like "ok, I should but I haven't, so let's move on". Or other things like washing the blue in its knees. I'm sure there are a lot of things that could be a lot better but they require better skills or a lot more time, and I have neither.
I'd like to hear the things you noticed either way, because when one has his own style of painting, it may be sometimes difficult to understand that some things just don't look ok, and I'd like those things to be pointed out to me if that is the case.

I have the Yetis ready and I'm 90% on the warbears but I'm gonna wait till everything is finished to post them all at once.

Well, this was actually one of the things I thought of
Compared with the great detail of the eyes and the shading of the skin and ice staff, some areas look a bit "monochrome", expecially the knees and to a lesser extent ("bichrome"?) the grey clothing. I don't think this would require "better skills" then those you showed painting the face. But after all, as you said "ok, you should but you haven't, so let's move on". Great work, still.
Have a look ;)

I was sure this was going to be a sure comment!

I know I said I'll post them all together, but I never promised anything, so here is one Yeti:

I always disliked those yetis, they look quite cartoony.

Nice paintjob nonethless.

can I get some feedback from you guys about what colour to paint the frozen horror's eyes?
I've done a light blue colour but I think they could be done differently, to attract more attention. Any ideas?
