Hi Tasoe,

I hadn't realised you were unable to complete? Definitely not teasing you about it - I'm already suffering some trepidation! I'm doing the same with my local group by having them choose their pieces.

As for the bases, metal figures get pinned whilst plastic use superglue, I've found a small dot holds amazingly.

It's just that everything I've painted during 2012 has ended up on ebay or was sold anyway. But this helps a lot to improve my skills so when I'll start on my set it will look better than it would if I painted it now.

Thanks for the info about pinning, I guess I'll try it on the very few metal figures I own.

Hi All,

I've been busying away in my dungeon lair, concocting coloured hues and mixing pots of paint; my first minions, the Orcs :D

Image

And carefully colour matched the bases to the hallways, it looked to be a diabolical effort. However it turned out to be very paint by numbers.

Bleached bone base coat with feature stones/sand, washed with Devlan Mud, then trimmed by Charadon Granite - GW colours pre-changeover. It is surprisingly close, who knew? (Probably everyone but me by now hahah)

Image

Aiming to complete the goblins and a hero next :)

best,
Seb.

Great idea to match the bases to the hallways. Try putting some into rooms and post a couple of pictures.
I would very much like to see how that looks.

Also it shouldn't be necessary to comment on how great the paintjob looks.

Thanks guys,

I've been enjoying redoing my Heroquest set, enthusiasm's effort always shows through.

So as I said, I'd be doing some Goblins and a Hero, well.. I ended up doing a fair bit more.

The Goblins (Terrible photo, will update next time)

The Captain
Image Image

Rallying Cry - Once per dungeon, every hero in the same room or corridor section, including the Captain, may regain one wound.
My aim being that the Captain emboldens his fellows in the face of dire circumstances, ie. An Ogre horde is pummelling everyone. Nod to drathe for the blank card - allowed me to add copy and images quickly.

The Empire Hero

Image
The shield is detachable, I carefully sanded the handle so the fit is snug, without abrading the glove.

The Clansman
Image
Same rules as the Dwarf, though I have been dabbling with the idea of having gain one die in attack from guzzling his Bugman's XXX (Flagon in hip)

And for Gobling King, a group shot :

I find the corridor styled bases don't break up the room tiles badly, there's a visual unity with the corridors close by.

Time to paint Fimir's and another hero :)

Those paint jobs are so fantastic that the shabby combat die looks totally out of place.
Fear the chinkle!

Cheers! |_P

I'm really getting into this project (though about to take a trip in two days for a couple of weeks) finally painting up the full set and having a blast. Only got as far as base colours for the Fimir(s?) before switching to the Zombies.

I didn't finish as far as I would hope tonight, but here are the Zombie pair (80% need shading) and my next Hero, the Waywatcher (cleaned, based flush and primed).
