Aaah, The Great Debate. Metallic- or non-metallic metal. For photos NMM is undisputed king, but in real life I rather like actual metal.
Each have their charms though, and in the end I think it's mostly opinions ;)

Superb stuff GK, espesh the statues love the cracking on those.

I disagree with CP's comment on the metallics, as personally I abhor non metal metallics, and much prefer the way you've done them using metallic paint, which is what it was designed for.

Actually I just realized I've accidentally taken one of the unfinished stone chaos warriors!
I'll replace it tomorrow.

It was not my preference that is at work with my recommendation. GK uses a lot of highlights. Highlighting simulates the thresholds of illumination, from the utmost-lit extremities, to the umbrageous interiors. Light does not dodge certain parts of similarly exposed areas. Simulated light should not, either. It either moves or it doesn't--highlighted skin is stationary exposure, metal weapons' sheen is directional exposure and does move.

The only way the effect of mixing them could physically happen would require a source of ultra-bright light radiating equidistantly from all possible angles, and metallic objects so dense that they produce gravity enough to cause electroweak reactions with electromagnetism. However, the light source could be less than ultra-bright, if the reaction caused the light to go into diaspora that saturated nearby matter, which could cause the stationary illumination effect.

So, unless those weapons are made out of dark matter, they are impossible.

Also, that second paragraph technobabble is not true, though theoretically theoretical.

I don't care for NMM, because it's very difficult to get it looking 'right' :) Kudos to anyone who does it though!

GK you're models are lovely - the stone effect and 'glowing' on the orc is amazing

While I won't switch to NMM your comments are very insightful. If not convincing me you have at least given me something to think about. |_P

In THEORY... The most accurate way to paint minis would be to just don't use shading and highlights all together. The actual light in the room will provide those! :-D
just kidding of course!

Exactly this is how I think ;) Shades don't come to humans/animals by painting. :D

I think there's some shading in Sjeng's face. Painted.
